What is puffball?
Someone with absolutely no taste in music at all, who is protective, in an unsettling way. Although this puffball is unpredictably protective at strange intervals, this does not bother the person being protected one bit. In fact, it pleases them.

A person, typically between ages 11 and 17, who loves the video games Henry Stickmin and Among Us. Their loves for those games are more than normal people's, and they know a lot about them.

The word was coined in the early nineties in the Backstage host (moderator) conference (forum) on the WELL, to refer to anyone who was a real handful for a host to deal with or "moderate," including other hosts or oldtimers.
(The term evokes the name of a wild mushroom, the idea of an enlarged ego, and the concept of being ballsy, but it is a pure coinage and not a derivation.
It's semi-affectionate.)
