A Bitchass that buys everything and sells everything on 3 times the price
Person1: Dude I can't buy a PS5
Person2: It's because of those fat-fucks scalpers we can't buy anything, even a video card that was supposed to be 299$
In complete neutral, unbiased definition: A person who gains income and profit from buying tickets/admissions to popular events (e.g sports games, music concerts), and sells them again to the public at higher prices than they bought them.
In my defintion, and in the defintion of anyone who has ever had their potential ticket taken by a scalper, or has been forced to buy from a scalper: The absolute scum of the earth, worse than neo-nazis, telemarketers, and rapists combined. They lack the decency, intelligence and integrity to make an honest living, so they prey upon and exploit other peoples' love of music, sport and general interests.
Make sure you get your tickets before these cocksuckers do, and no matter how much it pains you to miss an event, NEVER buy from them - it is the only way to get rid of them - event organisers try to place measures to get rid of them, but they do very little. If nobody buys from a scalper, they make huge losses buying expensive tickets nobody used, and will be discouraged from doing it again. If you buy from a scalper, you're only supporting them and making the problem worse. Better yet, if you see one at a game/show/etc, punch them, spit on them, assault them, but watch out, ticket scalping organisations employ massive 300lb sellers for a reason.
1. Goddammit, I just wanted to have a great time at the music festival/sports game, but some fuckwit has tried to exploit this and sell me a scalped ticket. Fuck that
2. If nobody buys from scalpers, they will make huge losses, and be forced to go back to their original occupations as glory hole employees
Someone who purchases large quantities of goods (usually tickets) early with the sole intention of re-selling them at a higher price at a later date (closer to the event).
Seedy looking guys outside stadiums avoiding police and trying to sell tickets to baseball/football games which are about to start.
An asshole who preorders/buys an item as soon as it's available and resells it at a higher price point than the item originally sold for. Usually is fat, lazy, or has no actual job.
Johnny: I went to Gamestop to get the new Destiny game and they were out of stock and I had to buy it from a scalper.
David: What an asshole, preying upon innocent people wanting to buy something that they find interesting.
Scalpers are illegal online individuals who can be the bane of your existence at a time of popularity surging items.
In an act of anti-consumerism, scalpers go through illegal and policy bending routes to buy products in insane amounts of bulk with digital softwares such as bots before the product is even months away from release. Then, in a fruitful attempt to gain money through unofficial means, they sell company items for twice the price and have their listings on seller-acceptable websites.
Those with a large amount of inventory through illegal measures have their items on online listing, and when consumers cannot turn to official methods of getting their product, they lie in wait, hoping that a desperate buyer would have no choice but to submit to their prices, which are normally about 2-3 times higher than company price.
While scalpers are mostly to blame for the shortage of products in the online era, retailers are also to blame. Some retail workers are scalpers or spies themselves for one. Two, online retailers do absolutely nothing in their power to defend against bots. Some, like Best Buy, have taken some security measures to allow 5 minute windows when something is in stock, as well as 1 per buyer, but it's still not enough to counter scalpers. Websites like the famous Amazon and eBay allow for scalpers to show off their ridiculous listings.
Man: "I tried getting the Playstation 5, but they were all out in seconds! How is it possible??"
Man 2: "Scalpers. Scalpers and their bots."
