The laps - what is it?

To run around in a full circle around a large object such as a soccer field; to go away, get lost.

What does "the laps" mean?

1.) The process of walking through a bar or club to assess attendance and pick a location to hang out. Sometimes known as the "initial lap."

2.) Repeating the above process of walking through a bar or club to "pick through the merchandise" for some prospective dates or tricks, etc. Sometimes known as "window shopping".

"Let's do a lap before we commit to a location."

Driving round and round town late at night. Typically done by twenty-something year old males as a social activity. May or may not speed, do drugs, or burn excessive amounts of rubber and testosterone at the same time.
