Nuclear weapons - definition

A nuclear weapon consists of a missile, rocket, bomb or artillery shell armed with a nuclear warhead.

When the warhead is detinated, nuclear atoms are split causing nuclear fusion.
Here is the chemical formula according to nuclearweaponarchive.org:
D + T -> He-4 (3.5 MeV) + n (14.1 MeV)

The first nuclear bombs where used on August 6, 1945. The united states droped two cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Here is some information on the first 2 used nuclear bombs

A nuclear weapon of the "Fat Man" type, the plutonium implosion type detonated over Nagasaki. 60 inches in diameter and 128 inches long, the weapon weighed about 10,000 pounds and had a yield approximating 21,000 tons of high explosives (Copy from U.S. National Archives, RG 77-AEC)

A nuclear weapon of the "Little Boy" type, the uranium gun-type detonated over Hiroshima. It is 28 inches in diameter and 120 inches long. "Little Boy" weighed about 9,000 pounds and had a yield approximating 15,000 tons of high explosives. (Copy from U.S. National Archives, RG 77-AEC

There are some highly uneducated information on the production and use of nuclear weapons throughout the web, such as people being able to build a operational nuclear weapon in there garage, this is not true due to the exact to-the-point conditions and enviroment needed to produce a nuclear weapon. The neds are so precise that labs are made just for the purpose of making another lab cabable to produce a nuclear weapon. Another misconception is about The war in Iran and the reasons President Bush decided to invade. There was more then just Nuclear Weapons, we invaded because Hussan said he had W.M.D.'s which is not jsut limited to Nuclear Weapons. Hussan also supported and funded al kida, the terrorist group that claimed responsibility for 9/11.

Wow,Nuclear Weapons can wipe out whole cities!

People need to know more about nuclear weapons before they poing fingers at George Bush

Nuclear weapons - slang

A weapon that was used on the Japanese to end World War 2, when it hit Nagasaki it killed approximately 300,000 people. Idiot hippies think this was wrong, and apparently never bring up the Batan Death March or the time we hit a German city with conventional B17 bombs and killed 100,000.

We should've rolled on the Soviet Union right after Germany before they had nuclear weapons.

Nuclear weapons

A weapon that manipulates the natural alterations of an atom's nucleus to release indescribable amounts of uncontrolled energy in the form of an explosion. Nuclear weapons come in two forms, they are listed in order of energy here.
1. Nuclear fusion: modeled after the reaction that takes place in the sun, it uses tremendous amounts of heat to provide the fusing of lighter nuclei, often Deuterium (or H-2), to form a larger, heavier nucleus, which is, if Deuterium is used, often Hydrogen-4. However the heat used is tremendous, often up to 10,000,000 degrees Celcius. To provide this awesome heat, a small amount of nuclear fission is needed. These fusion explosives are called thermonuclear weapons, and are often compared to MILLIONS of tons of TNT exploding (megatons). Naturally, it does not release any

2. Nuclear fission: does not happen naturally, and is 1/800th the power of a nuclear fusion reaction. It involves the firing of a "neutron bullet" at an atom with an atomic number greater than 91, at which point it splits into two lighter elements, such as U-235 splitting into Krypton-92 and Barium-141, releasing an extra two neutrons, plus the one used to split it. These neutrons move with such speed as to split apart more nuclei. More than a million reactions can happen in a split second, this is called the nuclear chain reaction. These individual atoms release energy that is often compared, in weapons, to tens up to hundreds of thousands of tons of TNT. Nuclear reactions, as these are called, result in the release of deadly radioactive material.

Many countries have nuclear weapons, and the greatest threat to mankind is a nuclear war, which could ultimately result in the destruction of all humans. However, although it may seem that God does not intervene in any major way, I am positive that He would not let such a thing happen.

Nuclear weapons

There are two versions of nuclear weapons. First, is a fission bomb, which works by blowing apart atoms, and the resulting energy is released. The second is a fusion bomb, which is the opposite of the first, where atoms are smashed together so tightly that energy is released.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were fission bombs. Tests done at Bikini Atolls were fusion bombs.

Nuclear weapons

Weapons of mass destruction that cause a chain reaction by splitting the nucleas of an uranium atom, thus causing two particles to fly out, that cause two other uranium atoms to become unstable and change into another element because they have an extra particle. This causes each of those two to fire off two particles each, and so the chain continues. This rapid expansion will eventually move onto the area surrounding it, and destroy it by means of reacting with it. Of course, in the time it has taken you to read this, a nuclear weapon, some as small as 11 inches could have scorched hundreds of miles worth of land surrounding it

Nuclear Weapons will bring the apocalypse, at which point many atheists will become religious, many religious will become atheist, and our skin will melt off.
