What is Short Hills?
Short Hills is currently the wealthiest town in New Jersey, and the 11th wealthiest in the country (yes, 11. Didn't make the top 10. Deal with it).
Has a huge Jewish population, as well as a sizeable Asian one. There's maybe one black kid in the public school.
The guy who invented Arizona Iced Tea lives here, as well as (supposedly) the guy who founded Dole Fruit. Ashlee Simpson and Lil Kim have both been spotted in our mall.
The kids are mostly wannabe punks, and emo kids. The parties suck. Millburn is considered the "ghetto" of the town, but it too is actually one of the top 100 wealthiest towns in the country.
The public school's sports teams are admittedly awful. Our football team is a joke. The only team worth mentioning is fencing, as the mens team is something like 2nd best in the state.
Despite all this, Short Hills kids are extremely smart, always scoring above average on the SATs and standerdized tests. The public school system is notoriously good.
I live in Short Hills, therefore, I'm better than you.

short hills is the hottest place on the planet. its gorgeous, hilly, woody, and mansions totally consume the place. 90% of the town is jewish. JAP, (jewish american princess), is a common everyday term, because the truth is, we're filthy rich. We wear all designer clothing from designer boutiques, drive around town in our mercedes, smoke tons of pot, and get crunk every weekend at parties. Our mall, The Mall at Short Hills, is freaking famous. Kids in short hills to to Millburn High, one of the top schools in new jersey. At least 10% of all graduates go to ivy league schools. Parents are top business executives and make 500,000 bucks a year. It's short hills, dont hate us, cause our daddies can outbuy ur houses and use them as garages.

What does "Short Hills" mean?
When I grew up in Short Hills in the 1960s and 1970s, it was a village of very good looking, athletic, clean-cut and privileged people: 1/3 Episcopalian, 1/3 Irish Catholic and 1/3 Jewish. Honestly, it was idyllic for a kid.
However, there was a lot of anti-Semitism from the Christians, and a lot of very nouveau riche behavior from the Jews. The Irish Catholics generally had lots of kids and tons of money. The three groups did not mix, except that some Aristo-Irish hung around with the High WASPs.
The Short Hills Club was predominantly Episcopalian, and no Jews were allowed as members or guests in any private clubs. If you were Italian or Polish or Black (there were no Blacks) forget it.
Like the rest of America, it has changed for the better and, also, the worst.

Short Hills - what does it mean?
i live in short hills and i love it. first of all, it may be rich and some people are bitchy but not everyone. millburn is not the ghetto. shorthills is actually part of millburn it just has a different zip code. hence the name "millburn-short hills township". see?-millburn comes first. anway, for 7th and 8th graders bar/bat mitzvahs occur atleast twice every weekend for like a year.girls trty too dress 15 years older then they really are. shopping is considered a sport. the houses are gorgeous and rachel zoe grew up in short hills while ann hathaway grew up in millburn. our town is not "the ass crack of america" we are just brought up well and with big trust funds. halloween is the excuse for girls to dress sluttier then usual.

Short Hills - meaning
A REALLY rich town in New Jersey. Basically Millburn, but with a different zip code and train station. True, the town is filled with JAP, posers, sluts, assholes, etc. but not everyone is like that. There are plenty of nice people here. Only about half of the kids are little stuck up spoiled brats. The rest of us are actually decent people. We're still spoiled, but compared to the rest of the town we're losers. Personally, I despise about 3/4 of the people in my school because they think that because their daddy is richer than everyone else, they can do whatever the fuck they want. The rest of the world has to stop hating on us, because its not our fault our parents were successful and we live in this town. Living in this town is actually kind of a bad thing because WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS!!!! So stop hating on Short Hills, because we're are not at all what you think we are.

Short Hills - slang
One of the richest towns in New Jersey, The East Coast, The United States, etc. Home to JAPs, jews, Posers, and possibly one black person. The public school is practically private and the houses are bigger than apartment buildings. The high school student parking lot contains nicer cars than the faculty's. Finals are not allowed until high school, SATs are always aced. "Punk" people are posers, "ghetto" people are expelled. Crime dosent exist so cops spend their time breaking up parties and "warning" people about using drugs. Girls shop at exclusive boutiques like Gotham, Manning's, Kids at Heart, and the Short Hills Mall. Guys customize their shoes and pop their "oh so ghetto" collars. Pride is taken in the losing football team and the horribly irritating cheerleaders. Summers are spent at camp and in the hamptons, winters in Aspen and the caribbian. In the 7th and 8th Grade Bar/Bat Mitzvahs take up the weekends. Roughly 100 are attended. In 10th grade the same number of Sweet Sixteens are held. Parents are lawyers, doctors, executives, investment bankers, etc. The bottom deciles of the graduating class of Millburn High still go to top 100 schools. Short Hills
Short Hills is just a normal town in New Jersey. Yes, it might be a rich town but it doesn't mean everyone that lives here is a snob. The school might be one of the top school and most kids go to the top 100 colleges from it but that is because the kids study hard and apply themselves. If you studied as hard as some of the kids here i know then u could be getting straight A's too. Also the mall might have every designer known to man but that doesnt mean thats the only place people shop. Right now in my closet i have no juicy or lacoste or solo or free people, most of my clothes are from target. And people in Millburn are just as rich as people in Short hills. Most kids here do not just live off there parents money. I have to work to earn money and my parents give me $10 a week for babysitting and doing chores around my house. Most people here are actually good people, but we definetly have our share of spoiled brats, but it doesn't mean everyone is horrible.

After seeing all of the negative press for Short Hills, I feel that, as a resident, there should be an unbiased, neutral opinion that contains fact, as opposed to fiction, about the town itself, not the people whom are targeted by these negative diatribes. Short Hills is one of the wealthiest towns in New Jersey. According to Forbes' 500 Most Expensive Zip Codes of 2006, Short Hills was ranked 5th overall in NJ behind Alpine, New Vernon, Mantoloking and Stone Harbor. The town also was ranked 66h overall, ahead of almost all of the affluent communities in Fairfield county, CT (Only Riverside, New Cannan and Greenwich placed higher). Many of the town's residents are Investment Bankers, Doctors, Laywers and members of other well-respected, fairly well paid professions. There are two majors draws to living in Short Hills. The first draw is the town's proximety to New York City. Along with Millburn, Summit, Madison, Chatham, Maplewood and South Orange, Short Hills acts as a Bedroom community for many commuters. All of the afforementioned towns are connected to NYC via the Morris and Essex Line on NJTransit and have direct service to New York City's Penn Station as well as Hoboken's train station, which provide access to NYC through the Path Train system and both the Financial District and Wall Street bound ferries. The other key reason why Short Hills has such drawing power is that the school system is considered to be one of the best in the nation, ranked 181st according to Newsweeks' 2006 top 1200 high schools publication. According to the same publication, when compared to other schools in New Jersey, the school system was ranked 6th. As a point of refference, Newsweeks' top 1200 list is based around the top 5% of public schools in the nation. Short Hills is also known for its mall, home to many of the upscale merchants that have residences on Fifth Avenue in NYC.

I've lived in shit hills my whole life so here's a bit about it. 7th grade is batmitzah season, where most kids are invited to about 100 throughout the year. costing between $80,000 and $150,000. the traditional turbulence dance at every mitzah. boys jump around in a circle yelling "fuck the police" or "we slay p*ssy". All the girls dress like they're 20 in Bebe dresses, push up bras and 6 inch heels. mostly everyone lives in giant mansions but there are some small houses. The famous short hills mall is where there is every designer brand and the Starbucks line is always long. the only sandwiches you get at the Millburn Deli is the Godfadda or Jay Ray. girls in elementary or middle school shop at Gotham and kids at heart. Kids go to sleepaway camp for 7 weeks leaving parents to go on trips or their beach houses. whether its the hamptons, aspen, or Boca Raton to see our grandparents, we are there. All dads commute in and out of the city everyday. with the japs, we do have caps (Christian American princesses) which we invented. Chinese and Indians move here for the schools. there are no black people. high schoolers have parties every weekend where there is pot and expensive vodka. They insta themselves drinking because parents dgaf. some people exaggerate it here just because they are jealous of he bubble that we live in. We will never know how the real world works because our parents will pay for our NYC apartment out of college and everything after that:)
Short Hills may have the worst reputation but residents don't mind the hate because they can buy your house and use it as their dog house:)
