What is Mushroomhead?
I am adressing the conflict between mushroomhead and slipknot. first of all about the mask issue NEITHER BAND COPIED THE OTHER!!!!! THEY EACH CAME UP WITH THE IDEA ON THEIR OWN!!!! Both bands are so different you can't really compare them slipknot has taken a more hardcore and aggressive approach where they are always serious in their songs. mushroomhead has a slower more gothic feel and ironically do incorporate some humor into their image. The fact is that if you like mushroomhead there is a 90% chance you are from Cleveland because they are less popular than slipknot. If you like slipknot you are looking for more thrash like stuff.

What does "Mushroomhead" mean?
Ohio local band with 8 members who all wear masks. They have been totally ripped off by Slipknot. They were around 3 years before Slipknot. They are heavy and kick ass. Check out XIII which is now in stores.

The Best Band In The world which started locally at Cleveland, Ohio October 1993. Jeffrey Nothing who is in the band has the best voice ever. Slipknot is nothing compared to these guys. All their Cds are awesome, get them. Keyboards with a piano makes their music very unique. Look up Greatness and Perfect.

Known for its theatrical live show and the black masks that most of its members wear on stage, Mushroomhead is one of the more unique and adventurous alternative metal outfits that emerged in the 1990s. And the Cleveland band's music is as interesting as its image; Mushroomhead's forceful yet melodic alterna-metal incorporates elements of hip-hop, punk, and goth rock as well as industrial and techno. The members of Mushroomhead have been performing incognito since 1993, when drummer Skinny founded the band. At first, Mushroomhead was only meant to be a side project. Its members were playing in various local bands at the time, and they wore the blacks masks (which look like a cross between S&M/bondage masks and World War I gas masks) so that people wouldn't recognize them. The only Mushroomhead member who doesn't wear a black mask opts for Kiss-like clown makeup instead. After a few years, Mushroomhead became one of Cleveland's top local attractions — and its members kept wearing the masks when they saw how intriguing people found them to be. Mushroomhead's self-titled debut album was released independently in 1995, followed by Superbuick in 1996 and M3 in 1999. The Midwesterners signed with Eclipse in 2000, and their next album, XX, came out the following year. In 2001, Mushroomhead's members included drummer/founder Skinny, lead vocalists J. Mann and Jeffrey Nothing, guitarists Bronson and Gravy, keyboardist Shmotz, bassist Pig Benis, and sample provider Stitch when they signed to Universal Records to rerelease XX.

They are commonly called a Slipknot knockoff by ignorant losers who like shitty metal like Linkin Park and who are too lazy to actually visit the bands website and see that Mushroomhead was formed almost 5 years before Slipknot, had a more theatrical concert compilation and performance than Slipknot and continued writing songs that would please their fans, rather than try to get radio time like Slipknot. They are an amazing band any self-respecting metal head should listen to.
