What is Kerbal?
Kerbal Space Program is an indie space-sandbox game known for it's steep learning curve and accurate physics simulation. Many players were originally turned off by the "rocket science" aspect of the game. A phrase popularized by the game is "Add moar boosters" and it has been mentioned on xkcd.

Kerbal - what is it?
The Kerbal Effect: when a videogame inspires a person to pursue a career path that they had not planned on before, named as it is because of the many people that have pursued degrees in aerospace engineering because of Kerbal Space Program.
I just saw another Kerbal Effect post on Reddit where someone got degrees in aerospace and mechanical engineering because they bought KSP.
What does "Kerbal" mean?
When someone makes a crazy engineering decision that could only be possible in the game Kerbal Space Program.
Person 1: "Dude, did you hear about how Elon Musk made that Giant Rocket?"
Person 2: "Yeah, he went Full Kerbal."
Kerbal - what does it mean?
Kerbal Tunnel is when you get sore wrists from playing Kerbal Space Program for hours on end.

An time consuming abyss of a game that is so enjoyable that you lose all track of time while reaching for the extents of space.

Kerbal - slang
An adjective used to describe a launch vehicle that is stupidly designed or irrationally large.
The Ares I is the most kerbal rocket ever made. It is essentially a crew capsule on top of a Solid Rocket Booster.
Kerbal
Describes a launch vehicle that is built by strapping together existing components, such as booster rockets or additional stages. It is a reference to the Kerbal Space Program, "create and manage your own space program", which allows players to build custom rockets in exactly that way.

Adjective used for describing engineering projects (specifically rockets, aircraft, or spacecraft) that are massively over-engineered, have a remote chance of working as intended, or are otherwise absurd. From the game Kerbal Space Program, a popular spaceflight simulator where the player controls the space program of the titular Kerbals, a race of little green men who, in the words of one developer, "only do the wrong thing all the time, and have stumbled into being an interstellar civilization."
