The film has been criticized for its historical inaccuracies, but taken as entertainment, it is an excellent piece of cinema.

Trademarks of the movie are William Wallace's half blue/half white face painting at the battle of stirling, and his yell of "FREEEEEEEDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM" after being tortured nearly to death. although there are more than a few historical inacuracies it is an amazing movie that everyone should see.
