A amazing sport. The riders work very hard. It is very dangerous you work with a 500 kilogram beast who has a mind of its own. You must be very committed to do this sport.

The Equestrian - what is it?
Usually that one person who stays quiet and thinks about horses all the time. It's a person who does many things with a horse such as riding, entering competitions and being committed with a horse. People will probably ask what equestrian means to that person and they will have to explain this whole definition, then get told horseback riding isn't a sport. At this point I suggest you leave them alone because they probably are thinking of ways that their horse could kill you. Finally, don't think you can talk about anything to do with horses around them and not be corrected, it's just a natural triat us amazing equestrians have ;) Btw just because we ride horses DOES NOT MEAN WE ARE A JOCKEY. There are many disciplines in the equestrian community in which we can preform it's not just racing! We do things such as English show jumping, western pleasure, barrel racing, dressage and MANY MANY more!!!!

A rich man's sport. An Olympic sport. One of the most dangerous sports. A horseback rider. Stereotyped as being very rich,and blue ribbon snobs (in some cases it's true). Usually you see them hang out at the barn alot because owning a horse or horses is commitment. There's two types of riding styles of equestrian. English riding: the blazer, breeches, tall boots, the velvet hard helmet, does the foxhunting, jumping, dressage, eventing, ect. Western riding: The cowboys, rodeos, barrel racing, ect.
The United States Equestrian Team took the gold medal at the previous Olympics in Atlanta.

An equestrian is usually a very hardworking person who is completely commited to the sport of riding and the animals(horses/ponies) that he or she rides. Often stereotyped as being snobby and rich the equestrian is usually overlooked as a person who partakes in sports/ physical activity. Equestrians need to have the concentration and ability to judge distance like a golfer, strength and stamina of a hockey player, artistic flow and ability to make a hard thing look easy and beauiful like a gymnast, and and also know where everyone around them is at all times ALL WHILE controlling a 1000lb or more animal with your hands, back, neck, shoulders, thighs, calves, legs, heels, stomach, or basically every bone/muscle in your body with the help of a 5 inch piece of metal.

The Equestrian
An amazing sport consisting of a partnership between the human and the horse. Horseback riding takes grace, skill, and everything else any other sport needs. A common misconception is that horseback riding does not take any skill, as it is the horse that does all the work. However, any person that has ridden a horse the right way knows that riding takes just as much skill, if not more, as any other sport.

Maria is a very talented equestrian, everyday she goes to the barn to ride and work with hers and other peoples horses.
Someone once told me that i wasn't a true equestrian because my parents have money, but trust me when i say that when i get to the barn my horse couldn't care less about how much money i have in the bank
