What is Shields?
Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division.
In my previous entry I had forgotten to include the word "Espionage." But, as any devout reader of Marvel Comics can tell you, both definitions are correct as Marvel briefly dropped "Espionage" from SHIELD in the late 1970's. They eventually restored it.

a shield is a badge you fucking nerds. though the only real shields are carried by cops and their superiors (sgt, lt, etc), all sorts of random civil servants have shields too.

Shields - definition
A TV series on FX that centers on a morally-challenged LA cop named Vic Mackey. But there's stories that focus on other cops as well in the precinct, besides Vic, which makes the show even more compelling.
It maybe a cable show, but you'll be surprised by the high level of intensity on this show.
It's TV-MA for it's brutal violence, profanity and moments of nudity and sex. Certainly one of the best shows TV has to offer.
Season 4 starts in March. Whoo-hoo!
Shields - slang
Shields is a shortened version of South Shields, a small seaside town near Newcastle, in the North East of England. South Shields is well known for it's long, sandy beaches. Locals are often referred to as "Geordies" though are more locally known as "Sanddancers". If you are from Shields, you more than likely despise Sunderland suppoerers "Mackems" and support Newcastle United (football, or "soccer" as you Americans pointlessley name it).
