What is Norwalk?

The ghetto of Westport, Darien, New Canaan, and Wilton. Also known as Norwack. It is a very diverse town including anything from a ghetto to a white prep Conneticut area.

Norwalk - what is it?

n. A small town - bigger than most people think - located on the panhandle of Connecticut in its wealthiest region, Fairfield County. Unlike the various other affluent towns, Norwalk is loaded with gang violence as a result of extremely defined cliques. A long-time rival exists between its two high schools, Brien McMahon and Norwalk High because of the city's small size. Norwalk's middle schools have tried to outdo each other in their notorious reputations for drugs, sex, and violence. Most Norwalk kids have been raised there all their lives and have a cockiness about them. Despite its diversity, Norwalk's shopping and civilization is limited. With only a movie theater, South Norwalk or "SoNo" has become the center for all activity - good and especially bad. Mostly everyone in Norwalk knows their fellow Norwalkers. It has commonly been referred to as "the Wack" or "Norwack." Norwalk has become linked with other cities like Stamford and Bridgeport. Norwalk's reputation is not completely horrific when you examine the small town of Rowayton, the preppier side of Norwalk. Rich Caucasian families have become one big, sheltered clique where town gatherings often happen on their one lawn for such events as Shakespeare in the Park. It takes less than a minute to drive through Rowayton, and when you do it isn't hard to see that you have entered another world. Norwalk is broken up into several parts: South Norwalk, East Norwalk, West Norwalk, North Norwalk, and just Norwalk. While many complain that there is nothing to do, they never do anything about it; so everyone has adapted to their daily routine. No one here is a true native, since everyone comes from other towns or states and settles here.

1: Who you reppin?
2: McMahon to the fullest, nigga

What does "Norwalk" mean?

Norwalk, Ohio. (a.k.a. the pimple on God's ass) - Sister city to Norwalk, CT but also is much crappier and less desirable area to live due to many whiggers and migrant workers invading both the north and east sides of town. -A place where whores and sluts run rampid up the yin-yang. -where people make their last stop for gas if heading to Cedar Point (America's rockin', shit-hole, fucking coast)if going there via Rt.250. -you get the idea, if your parents ever talk about moving to Norwalk Ohio, please consider the following:
1)praying you dont come here
2)'accidently' dying
3)or just become a carnie and see America

Norwalk, Ohio - where the grass is green, but so are the clits of almost every chick in town.

Norwalk - what does it mean?

A partially nice town. What I mean by partially is that certain parts of Norwalk are really.....really poor, not to be rude. Norwalk is a far cry from the rest of Fairfield County. It's unique. It contains preps, gothics, skaters, nerds, and supposed "gangstas" mostly in South Norwalk. East Norwalk can be.....extremely suburban, and there are many preps.

Some "preps" go to country clubs. There's two in East Norwalk: Shorehaven and Shore and Country.

Shore and Country is mostly for "traditional" preps while Shorehaven is more for new preps.

I actually know a few teachers who go to Shore and Country. One is from Wilton, though. Wealthy people from all around go there.

Norwalk is a rather interesting town.

Norwalk - meaning

1. Standing up friends after you have assured them that you would attend an event.

2. Backing out of an event or trip that one has previously agreed to. Especially if one's friends have already committed time, resources, or money to said trip which they can never recoup.

3. Chronic avoidance of events that occur more than 10 miles from where the offender is domiciled, primarily because he/she prefer to get wasted at his/her own home to avoid having to drive and he/she lacks the responsibility to designate a sober driver or to remain sober him/herself.

1. The Fredmans promised they would come to our housewarming party, but it appears that we have been Norwalked since they never showed.

2. I know we promised to go to Japan with the Ballers, but it looks like we're going to Norwalk them since we've decided not to go.

Norwalk - definition

A Diverse town... Where you will meet all different kinds of people in differnt situations

As I sit here and read the posts for Norwalk, I find myself shocked. I have lived in Norwalk my whole life and would never define it as "a town close to a beach where you can relax!" I have never even stepped foot in the water! Yeah the beach is a common "chill" spot if you may call it or a common place where the youth and adults of Norwalk go to congregate, but thats all its for. And as for "shorehaven," I am familiar with the country club, but have never stepped foot in that as well. You see I guess I make up the "middle" class of Norwalk. Norwalk is seperated into three sections, The high class (all you shorehaven goers) the middle class, and the poor class. It is a mistake to say that all the poor class lives in South Norwalk or Vice versa because to my current knowledge there are people who are paying up to almost 2,000 a month for a brand spankin new in the mid section of Sono apartments. So whats my point?
Basically Norwalk is almost as Diverse as New York...
You are surounded by all different kinds of people, but the experiences you take with you are only those in which you have been born into. Whether you "hang out" at Shorehaven or RC projects you are considered a Norwalkian... So please dont tell me Norwalk is made up of the beach or Shore haven because that is not the case.

Norwalk - slang

Norwalk CT is a great city with a lot to offer. It’s certainly not another cookie cutter Stepford wife town, although it was partial filmed in Norwalk. Norwalk seems to have a new young hippy / Hollywood vibe going on, if you can imagine that. In the past few months I have seen Leonardo Dicaprio, Robert Deniro, Hillary Swank, Robin Williams, John Travolta and more filming movies Norwalk.

Norwalk is moving in a green earth friendly city. I have noticed a lot of young couples moving into the area that bring canvas bags to the grocery stores, for example. It has adorable boutiques in the SoNo area, the best restaurants around and a few art galleries and design store have sprung up.

The Wall Street areas is starting to be redeveloped in spring of 08 and in those plans are some high end residential condos, retail shop, restaurants and open garden space. This area already has some great shops, restaurants and art galleries but a face lift is underway.

I would say Norwalk is a great place to live and a great investment if you are looking for a place that is convienatly located to Shops, restaurants, and NYC.

Norwalk

I've always looked at it as being boring, living here all of my life, but it is alright. It isn't very dangerous, quite safe in most suburban residential areas. Some areas, though, have rising crime rates.

Contrary to popular belief, Norwalk is an extremely diverse town. One side of Norwalk could be completely different from the other side. Norwalk is NOT a ghetto, although certain parts of South Norwalk can be counted as a ghetto. Some of South Norwalk can be extremely culturally diverse and interesting.

East Norwalk is what you would think as a suburban part of Norwalk. It contains many suburban homes and schools convieniently located around the middle of the residential area.

Yes, there are traditional "preps" in Norwalk, but most of them are nouveau riche preps who go to country clubs such as Shore and Country and Shorehaven. Also, there are the various cliques.

Person from West Coast: Oh, I hear Norwalk's a ghetto.
Norwalkian: WHAT?!

Norwalk

A city in Fairfield County, as i'm sure many people know. It borders Westport, New Canaan and Darien. Now, i know what you all are thinking: Norwalk is just flat out poor and people are afraid of it (god knows why?) sure, it's more DIVERSE than it's bordering towns, and it's not as wealthy either, but that doesn't make it a "dump." it has its fair share of problems, but it's also a very nice place in a lot of ways.. you just have to look past the stereotypes and give it a chance. norwalk is divided into four main parts: south norwalk, east norwalk, west norwalk, and just norwalk (which is basically north norwalk or cranbury) sono has cleaned up a whole lot over the years and is actually a pretty nice place.. it's good for shopping and eating especially. east norwalk is by the water obviously, and has two country clubs: shorehaven and shore and country. now i belong to shorehaven, and in a lot of ways i love going there all the time, but it really has shown me how lucky i am to live in norwalk. most of the people here are really down to earth and don't care about physical appearance, which i like. anyway, i'm not too familiar with west norwalk to be honest, and the northern part is pretty much the same as the rest of it. overall, i'm not writing this to diss the bordering towns of norwalk, don't get me wrong. they're great in their own ways. all i'm saying is that you should give norwalk a chance. believe it or not, there's more to it than meets the eye.

norwalk isn't as bad as you think.
