The Frederick Douglass (fred-rik, -er-ik duhg-luhs) refers to the hair style worn by famous African-American historical figure Frederick Douglass. The Frederick Douglass is predominately worn by African-American men and features voluminous hair and a side part. Douglass - what does it mean?
A former slave who eventually became a freedmen and wrote about the horrors of slavery. He wasn't supposed to know how to read or write, but he managed to trick some white kids into teaching him anyway. Some of his ideas still apply today.
