What does "the Smurfs" mean?
A TV show featuring 100 little blue communists, two of which are female. Smurfs are led by a dictator and sometimes by Trotsky, when the dictator's off smurfing the town bitch. Always use "smurf" in place of any word possible.

In gaming culture, smurfing is defined as logging into a secret account seperate from a main account as to allow the user to play a game without being detected by his or her peers.
Generally the purpose of smurfing is to improve oneself without compromising the statistics of a main account. It allows gamers to try new strategies, or simply play without worrying about a "record".

In online gaming, a smurf is an experienced player who uses a new account to deceive other players into thinking he's a noob (newbie). The purpose is usually to play against less skilled opponents who will under-estimate the 'smurf'. The expected result is that the smurf will pwn (dominate) his opponents and humiliate them further as they have been now beaten by an apparent noob.
Haha I played company of heroes last night against two level 6 players. I totally smurfed them with my level 1 account. Poor noobs wanted an easy game.
