What is get the coat?
The term *gets coat* is a phrase used usually after a joke that has failed, or one that is terrible/in bad taste. Usually found on forums and internet message boards.
On other occasions, those with extended wit can often be found using such alterations as *doesn't have a coat*.
It's origins could be traced back to a series of sketches in the Fast Show, which ended with Mark Williams saying "I'll get me coat" after saying something which made him look like an idiot.
An example of this is as follows:
Person 1: I've just been on a boat.
Person 2: Did you have a whale of a time?
Person 3: *gets coat*
*gets coat* may also be found spoken by Person 2 at the bottom of their post, if they realise the appalling nature of their joke before posting.

Get the coat - what is it?
A line used by someone to make a quick getaway from a stale and awkward moment caused by this particular person. It is a voluntary assertion, to express the person's desire to leave the current location in which they may have just touched on a derogatory subject and it hasn't gone down well.
Miles: Hey David, nice of you to join me and my sophisticated upper class friends at this somewhat formal gathering here; what've you been doing this week then?
David: Well y'know... the usual; rapin' some peeps -
- I'll get my coat.
What does "get the coat" mean?
Often followed by the words; you've pulled, i've got a knife.
Basically, telling someone its time to go.
*Boy looks over*
Girl 1: Get yer coat, you've pulled ;)
Girl 2: Oh god, not him.
Get the coat - what does it mean?
To want to leave with urgency. To leave a social function in a huff or in anger
After being insulted by uncle Ted, mom stormed out of the room, saying Bob, get your coat we're leaving

Get the coat means ya girl is sucking ya dick in the movie theater and you don’t want that family with the 4 year old watching you.
