What is Resident Evil 4?

a very well made game with lots of replayability and a large fun factor. Plays more like an action game than a survival horror game but since its fun to play it doesnt matter much.

Resident evil 4 is one of the best games of 2005 and pretty much the best overall gamecube game.

Resident Evil 4 - what is it?

One of the best Gamecube games ever. It's the best Resident Evil game so far. It star Leon Kennedy on a mission to rescue the president's daughter. If you have a gamecube you should go out and buy it right away. If you have a Playstation 2 you can buy it in a few months. If you have an X-Box you should get one of the other video game systems just to play this game. It is so worth it.

Resident Evil 4 is amazing. I love it.

What does "Resident Evil 4" mean?

A kickass game, but only the PS2 version. Now that the PS2 port is out, people will no longer have to waste 100 extra dollars buying a game cube to play it on and will now have to only pay about 40 bucks to get it on the PS2 WITH BONUS CONTENT such as new weapons, a new playable character (wont say who), new outfits, a movie viewer so u can see all the movies with out having to play through the whole game again, support for widescreen tvs (important for videophilles like me), and a lower difficulty settings for all you pussies who complained it was too hard.

Dont waste your money on that square P.O.S. called Game Cube get the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 with added features, you wont regret it.

Resident Evil 4 - what does it mean?

A game that was a disgrace to the Resident Evil name. This game fell to the modern standards of Action-shooter games and lost the survival-horror aspect that the great RE games had before it. This game has no puzzles, no zombies, nothing to scare you, and thus, no reason to exist.

I bought Resident Evil 4 on a monday, and sold it on a thursday.

Resident Evil 4 - meaning

A fun, but stupid game. The controls are pretty bad, and the combat is pretty bad.

Resident Evil 4 may be a lot of fun to someone who has played horror games before, but even then, it's too unrealistic and clumsy to function as a game that is truly interesting and occupying. That is not to say that it is not fun, though. Obviously, games like this cannot be realistic, but there is a line between unrealistic and so excessively unrealistic that it completely distracts from the game itself. Maybe most people don't care (which is why the developers decided not to bother), but to those who want a bit more than randomly shooting stuff, it does.

Your name is Leon, and you are a US special agent charged with the rescue of the president's daughter. Quickly, you find yourself at the mercy of crowds of villagers which take awhile to kill but remain the exact same way no matter how many bullets you pump into them. Then you have stupid dynamics where if you pump a chainsaw villager full of shotgun shells to the face, their head does not come off and you cannot largely incapacitate them. Nonetheless, Leon is shown to be a well trained agent with amazing reflexes and acrobatics. The problem with this is that you cannot even USE them aside from several instances. Your head gets cut off by a slow, lumbering villager every time you get too close; you cannot simply perform a move to disarm them, you cannot use their weapons, only pump round after round into them until they at last die. I guess they did it to be scary, but if something is just so ridiculously unrealistic and stupid that is supposed to be SERIOUS, it takes away from the value of the game. I have no problem with that in GTA because GTA is full of humor and at least guns deal semi-realistic damage to enemies.

Obviously, some would say that the alien virus would make the villagers somehow immune to bullets. They still sort of act human though, and having a parasite in your body doesn't change the fact that a blast to the head will completely kill you. I wanted more flexibility with Leon, as in being able to commandeer chainsaws, dodge swipes, et cetera. What they could have done to do this better would be make the damage scale more realistic, but make the enemies more crazy and require more skill to kill them. The game is very easy because the enemies are quite predictable, but it is also very tedious. In essence, the game simply could have been scaled down a bit. Having to place a few shots effectively to kill a chainsaw wielding maniac is much harder than slowly switching to your shotgun and hitting him again as he gets up each time. They would even manage to brush off an entire grenade! It's just lame and takes away from the experience. Leon could take less damage overall because he would be able to dodge most attacks, but could take a lot when absolutely trapped and not able to dodge. I would have liked to see more martial arts in the game; and an ability to shoot an enemy after you kicked them off. I would have liked to see the villagers with gaping holes in their heads once you shot them in the face. I found it more than a bit stupid when the priest guy's metal mask could deflect bullets. It seems that the developers of this game tried to substitute quantity for quality.

On to the controls. If they weren't going to increase the realism and strategy of this game, the least they could do would be make better controls. You couldn't quickly back up, or really run that fast aside from in cut scenes, or furthermore move while shooting. That was really annoying and made it far too easy to be hit, especially when aiming.

Overall, I don't really recommend getting this game if you are not a fan of the horror genre or do not enjoy dumb 'shoot em up' type games. I acknowledge that stuff like Halo may be unrealistic but it's at least vaguely based on a realistic damage scale/combat dynamic. Not only have the developers failed to place any decent combat in this game, but they left good combat controls out. If they hadn't, at least one who knew what they were doing could outrun the stupidly designed enemies. They also leave much to desire in the story, which is full of holes. In the character, they also leave the player wishing that they could use the same tactics in all combat that were used in these small cut scenes where the player would have to activate a special move by waving the wand or pressing buttons, or die.

The guns are sort of fun to shoot, though, just completely underpowered. And to be fair, this is a good time killer. It's just really cheesy and doesn't contain much substance.

You find yourself wondering why Whesker can snap the Bella sisters' necks and they die, but if you shoot them in the neck with a shotgun point blank, they live. You can dodge lasers, but not some clumsy-ass villager wielding an old chainsaw. Your handgun is fun to shoot but does about as much damage as an airsoft. You end up wasting a ton of ammo, which is easy, tedious, and involves no strategy. Outside of certain scenes, you have about the acrobatic skill of a underdeveloped 12 year old, but in those scenes, you have cat like reflexes. The enemies are predictable and dumb. Thanks, lazy developers of Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4 - definition

All right, This is not only one of the best games ever, Resident Evil or otherwise, but it is the most overtalked about game in the entire world. The only games that have gotten this much attention are Guitar Hero, Metroid, and Diablo II.

RE:4 is different from its predecessors right off the bat, because it uses live action sequences in the GC version and FMV in the PS2 version(to save time and quality, but it takes a bit longer to load them.).

The game also uses an over the shoulder camera, though the original workings of it did have times where it had the old static camera. Though it really is great for aiming, its at an angle so aiming straight is actually a little left than it would be. There are also times where the camera can hurt you, which is why its a good idea to have a stereo-capable TV to know what around you

Also, the zombies are gone, and replaced with brainwashed, parasite infected cultists. These guys don't want to eat you, they just want you dead. They can use weapons too, so watch it.

A new aiming mechanic was added, thanks to the power of the systems. Now, you can aim for the leg and they'll trip, or aim for the head to stun/kill them.

Most of the game takes place at night, and there are some parts that can get to you at times, like the novistadors. These humans experimented on with the Las Plagas(the parasite, and spanish for the plague.) and turned into bugged freaks. BRRR!

People have bitched about which system its better on. Honestly, it all depends on which system you play it on first to like it. The GC has shorter loading times, a higher polygon count, but Leon S.K.'s hair is blond. BLOND! also, the game is on 2 disks, with one lvl on an ENTIRE DISK! however, the PS2 version has more goodies at the expense of a lower polygon count, one disk, longer load times, and a shallower pixel fog. But, you get stuff like a new mini-mission, starring Ada Wong, and a costume for ashley that makes her invicible and incarriable, making pro mode much easier.

And, if you beat both modes in the PS2, you get access to the mother of all weapons: the PRL-412. this nifty Laser can defeat ANY enemy within two hits gaurenteed! for bosses, you can just flash them and they die. though it is very big, it will become your best friend.

In short, either version is great, so just play it on whichever system you have. If you have both, your choice, if neither, buy one of the systems, or go to a friend who has one of the systems and play it. You will love it. and to all those that say anything else, YOU ARE A BIASED GAMER AND SHOULD BE HUNG AND QUARTERED FOR YOUR OFFENSE IN THE IMAGE OF THE GAMING COMMUNITY!

Seriously, stop talking about Resident Evil 4. Its two years old, for Christ's sake. It should already be out of style. It never revolutionized anything except the RE series. You don't see anyone still talking about Super Mario Bros. on a daily basis, do you?

Resident Evil 4

A great, kickass game that all the resident evil fanboys can't stop bitching about because it changed it's style. Look dumbasses, the other 4 (Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica being the 4th) were great, but you can't expect Capcom and the RE team to not change the series' style because you don't want them to. They changed the RE formula so it could appeal to a bigger playing crowd. And guess what? IT WORKED. It is extremely narrow-minded of you to not want the series to change just because you don't want it to.

Resident Evil 4 is NOT A DISGRACE to the RE series.

Resident Evil 4

A game that apparently, the owners of definitions 10, 11, 13, and 14 have not played. For starters, the graphics are terrific for the Gamecube. Maybe they didn't work so hard on the Ps2, but that's because the Ps2 sold out. (So did every other system, but that's besides the point) The storyline is o.k., but not the main feature of the game. (something Killer7 should've thought about...) The real draw to the game is the combat. It takes a intuitive new look on shooters that will be copied for years to come. Specifically, the 3rd-person aspect.

Many RE fanboys continue to hate the game for it's new look on the series. This is NOT what a normal person should think. A NORMAL person will enjoy the game for what it is, a shooter. and for all you fanboys out there, maybe Re4 was just a marketing ploy to get more money, so they could make more RE's like the old ones. (Maybe not Re5, and Re:UC but some...)

Personally, I loved the game. It had a killer draw, some kickass graphics, and some amazing guns. A veteran gamer will enjoy this game (If you haven't already played it) and even newbs to the series will get a kick out of it. But there will still be some fanboys who are SO opposed to it that they refuse to play it, I say to them this: To each their own. You don't want to play Resident Evil's most successful game to date, fine by me. Have fun with Dead Aim.

Me:I like Resident Evil 4 because of it's great graphics, creepy atmosphere, and nice guns.
RE Fanboy: I hate RE4 because it departed from the original mechanics of the series!!!
Me:Don't you have a life outside of RE?
RE Fanboy: Yeah, I also play kingdom hearts, and-
Me: *Pulls out Handcannon and blows him to shit.*

Resident Evil 4

Looking at the definitions, people see to be keeping on saying the same thing: 'Resi 4 is the best Gamecube game ever!' Well, you are wrong. Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever, period.

The story goes like this. Leon Kennedy (Who was one of the two main characters in Resi 2) has managed to put the incedent in Racoon City behind him. He now works as an agent for the U.S. Government. His first assignment is to rescue Ashley Graham, the president's daughter from a group of people in 'a remote and lonely part of Europe' (Spain, obviously). What he then discovers is that all the villagers are infected with 'Las Plagas', and are all hostile towards him. He must now rescue the villagers daughter and get her out alive.

What makes this such a brilliant game is simple: The gameplay. It's completely different to every other Resi, and is by far the series' biggest turning point so far. It uses an engine more akin to that of an FPS, due to it's over-the-shoulder camera view and laser targeting. It's action is truly relentless, and it never slows down. There is always something to do, and you feel as though you are coming close to death all the time. The graphics and sound are outstanding, and really suck you into the game.

The Resi purists have been fuming about this, saying that it 'dirties the name of Resident Evil'. In my personal opinion, I think this is stupid. While I love the old Resi games, I think it's about time the series moved on. The old survival horror 'find keys, unlock doors, save ammo' concept really is very out of date now. But the original Resis, ecspecially the first, will always be one of my greatest gaming memories.

I really have not felt so excited about a game for years. I went to bed thinking about it, and woke up wanting to play it, and I have not felt that way about a game for a long, long time.
