Paintball - what is it?
A Sport.
A Lifestyle.
There is nothing like it in the world. The comradery, the teamwork, the family, the energy. It's absolutely amazing. You get on the field, butterflies in your stomach, ready to shoot some people in the face. You look at your opponents who are ready to do what they do. You glance at your teammates, with fire in their eyes. This is what you live for. Nothing matters but this. Right now. With your family. Working together to achieve a goal. This is paintball.
Love it, for it is what you live for.
Paintball is life.

What does "Paintball" mean?
A game in which opposing teams use CO2 operated guns to propel a ball filled with paint at one another. When you are hit with the "paintball" you are considered "out of the game". This continues until the requiered objective is complete(usually capturing a flag or eliminating the entire opposing team).Special games of "Speedball" are often played where the players are in close proximity to each other, often using inflatable "bunkers" as thier only cover. The guns or "markers" as they are often referred to as, use CO2 or Nitro as a propellant for the shperical shaped projectile or "paintball". When fired at a high velocity, they are known to bruise or even break bare skin. This is why there is a common limit to how hard they can shoot usually around 300fps.

Paintball - what does it mean?
1.A game in which two teams of players generally anywhere from 3-10 persons seek to eliminate the opposing team by marking them with paint filled gelatin capsules that are fired from a pneumatic powered marker or "Gun". Some people play it for military simulation and others play it in x-ball or "tournament" fasion for the sport value of the game.

Paintball - definition
A sport that mixes hide and seek with capture the flag, except you "seek" with a paintball marker. Un-known to some people, paintball is not just a sport for spoiled rich adolecents. Anybody can play, regardless of skill, gender, and race. Although it does not come close to real warfare, it is a fun sport in which everybody has fun.
Anybody who compares paintball to the armed forces is a retard and have probably not played paintball.

This is a reply to the definition provided by J. Michael Reiter.
I do know what its like to carry a rifle, full ruck and LBH. I served in the airborne for 8 years. I also play paintball. And I enjoy every minute I spend on the field. I saw many of my friends die while I served, and it makes me feel good when I can see my friends get right back up after being shot by a paintball.
Oh and by the way most of the people who play paintball are not "wealthy overgrown adolescents."

It happens on a random Monday, coming back from an event. Or late on a Sunday night, right before you get on the plane and you're about to be frisked for the third time. You're driving, you're flying, you're sitting in an airport seat with boys from the team. You're drinking stale coffee, trying to stay awake. You're explaining the fat welt on the side of your neck to a confused stranger or a best friend, or running through the sidewalks of LAX, trying to catch a plane. You're coming back to the other life... the one without paintball, where no one understands why you do it. You're tired, you're working off little sleep, the question creeps up and you try to ignore it. Why do I do this? Why the travel, why the losses, the missed work, the missed school, hours of practice, and the complaining girlfriend? Because the lure of living a paintball life is just too potent. And the products of the road, the travel, are memories forever, and trips, and strange lands with stranger people, At tournaments it feels like, for once, you actually get to live as loud as you want. It's worth the sacrifices, it's worth all the bullshit. Because if you work hard enough, a Sunday will roll around, and you'll be in the huddle, screaming, with your hand in, one among ten, playing for the world title, and suddenly all those clichés you ever heard make sense. And you are defined. You say it to yourself and it means everything. I am a paintball player. And this moment right here, is my life.
