What does "NEWPORT" mean?
newport is voted the second worst place in wales after rhyl (and newport also somehow became a city in 2002) making it the worst city in wales. it's the first city you'll enter if entering from the east via the severn bridge. living here all of my life i can confidently say it's shit. everywhere you walk in the "city centre" there is a 97% chance that someone will approach you and say anything along the lines of "alright mate you got a rizzla???" and have a go at you if you don't. 13 year old chavs that think they're hard are pretty much everywhere and it stinks of weed and the pigeons don't fuck off either, especially by the riverfront. curry and chips is the best meal going here and the train station is probably the best way out of this place. also, try to avoid bettws and pillgwenlly ("pill") at all costs, or just avoid newport itself at all costs.

n. Newport, introduced in 1957, is a brand of menthol cigarettes produced by Lorillard Tobacco Company of Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. Newport’s comprise about 35 percent of menthol cigarette sales in the US. Newport’s have gained a commanding share of the black market; a 2005 survey stated that 49.5% of cigarette sales to blacks were Newport’s. Newport Classic full flavor cigarettes were promoted for many years as a cigarette that allows you to "Enjoy full flavor menthol, without drowning out pure tobacco taste." In the mid 1980s, Newport began an advertising campaign that courted African Americans in urban areas. In two years, Newport’s became the fifth most popular cigarette on the market.
