Keep fucking that chicken - what is it?

A phrase that can be used as a reply or advice in a variety of conversations, usually as encouragement (Keep up the good work, etc.) but also can also be defined as unproductive activity (fucking the dog, etc.) Can be used metaphorically or in the literal sense. Considered vulgar. Coined by news anchor Ernie Anastos of New York's Fox 5 network in a segue during a live newscast on September 16th, 2009.

My grandfather always used to say "keep fucking that chicken, boy!" and I really didn't know what he meant so I just rolled with it.

Or:

Ernie: "It takes a tough man to make a tender forecast, Nick."
Nick Gregory: "Well, I guess that's me!"
Ernie: "Keep fucking that chicken."

What does "Keep fucking that chicken" mean?

A reference to a joke about a man going to a whorehouse.

Shortened version: A man goes into a whorehouse and says he's jaded and wants something completely different, so he's told to go into a room where he sees a chicken. He says, "What am I supposed to do with that?" He's told, "You're supposed to fuck it!" So he shrugs, takes his clothes off, and starts chasing the chicken around the room, but after 20 minutes, clawed, pecked and bleeding, he gives up. He walks out of the room and down the hall, where he sees a group of people looking through a window at a woman having sex with a donkey. "That's disgusting," he says. "That's nothing," one of the men says. "A few minutes ago there was a guy trying to fuck a chicken!"

Thus the phrase, "Keep fucking that chicken."

Keep fucking that chicken - what does it mean?

A sarcastic statement made to humorously disparage a person's efforts.

Based on newscaster Ernie Anastos cursing to the weatherman Nick Gregory, after Gregory gives his idiotic weather forecast on 9/16/09. Anastos, in some mocking banter to Gregory, said, "It takes a tough man to make a tender forecast, Nick." Gregory responded, "I guess that's me?". Anastos bitingly, and hilariously, adds "Keep fucking that chicken!"

After the president pledged to spend billions of dollars to prevent encrypted communications, a voice was heard from the back of the press room: "Keep fucking that chicken, Obama!"

Keep fucking that chicken

"Keep fucking that chicken" (KFTC) is a phrase coined by television anchor Ernie Anastos during a live broadcast of the Fox 5 New York local news. It is presumably a phrase of encouragement similar to keep on truckin, only with a more pronounced and colorful air of defiance.

The chicken being fucked may be an actual chicken, could be pejorative slang for a woman (i.e. chickenhead), or some other metaphor for an object of desire or enjoyable activity. In any case, KFTC seems to be a gesture of support to the recipient to continue doing whatever it is that they're doing, despite what others may say, so long as it makes them happy.

Adam: I could be making more money at another job, but I like the work I'm doing now.

Bob: Whatever, keep fucking that chicken.

Keep fucking that chicken

This expression became a term of encouragement after the following exchange in a live New York local Fox News broadcast at the end of the weather report.

Ernie: "It takes a tough man to make a tender forecast, Nick."
Nick Gregory: "Well, I guess that's me!"
Ernie: "Keep fucking that chicken."

The first line is a parody of a commercial for Perdue chicken from the 1970's, in which Frank Perdue uttered the tag line, "It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken." "Keep fucking that chicken" was the punchline of a joke of the same time about how Perdue did it.

Way to go, buddy. Keep fucking that chicken!
