What is Gackt?
A j-rock (arguably considered visual kei, j-pop or j-punk) singer. Many people find him extremely attractive, at least partially to his mysterious, semi-gothic persona and unique, almost soft vocals. Formerly of the band Malice Mizer, he claims to be 400 years old (other estimates place him in his late twenties, early thirties) and frequently changes his image. He's far from attention-shy and neither confirms... nor denies questions about his sexuality- in fact, he encourages them.

Gackt - what is it?
Gackt (aka Gakuto, aka Camui Gackt, aka Gackt M.S. Camui) is an extremely well-known and much-admired Japanese pop/rock star. He claims to have been born on July 4, 1540; however, slightly more reliable sources indicate his birthdate is probably closer to July 4, 1973.
He was first a member (vocalist) of the band Cains:Feel. However, his popularity and charisma because apparent only after he became the lead vocal for the band Malice Mizer. He joined the band in late (October) of 1995. They enjoyed a successful career together until 1998, when the Gackt departed from the band. ((The other members are as follows: Mana (guitar and vocals), Kozi (guitar and vocals), Tetsu (vocals), Yu~ki (bass), Kami (drums). )) There are several different reasons given as to why Gackt left the group, including that the rest of the band asked that he leave, despite his wishes to stay with them.
After leaving Malice Mizer, Gackt embarked upon a very successful solo career. He has written stories, starred in movies (most notably the film Moonchild, in which he acted alongside Hyde of L'arc~en~Ciel fame.), designed clothing, done work on a video game (Bujingai), and opening a restaurant. He also defeated Matsumoto of the group Downtown in a game of pool on the pop culture show "Hey Hey Hey!" and became the King of Billiards.
Once, Gackt claimed 'Banana Fish' to be one of his favorite mangas.

Gackt is a Japanese vocalist, much loved by non-Japanese fans worldwide. Often, among non-Japanese fans, liking Gackt is synonymous with being a newbie to the genre. For many, Gackt is a gateway artist; you get your start with him but stop listening to him as they become more aquainted with the genre. In Japan, most people do not like Gackt, they think he is strange.
Gackt first gained popularity as the singer for the visual kei band, Malice Mizer. After he left the band in 1999, his style changed from the dramatic, visual kei style, to a more pop style. Gackt is memorable for his overly "cool" demeanor, having had many plastic surgeries (to look more white; but he looks more like a Final Fantasy character), and his erratic onstage behavior, including crazy dancing and fanservice).

An extremely popular Japanese Singer. He became popular with the band Malice Mizer, but eventually started a solo career. He can speak a plethora of languages, including Chinese, English, French and his native tounge. His style often changes, but he usually wears blue contacts.
He was once married to a Korean woman, but it ended badly and he is not enthusiastic to marry again- also because he was quoted that "dating" was a favorite pastime. He almost drowned as a child, and experienced trauma with the paranormal (hearing spirits), and therefore does not want to have any children of his own. Due to Gackt's sex appeal his fans mainly consist of women(though there are also rumors he is homosexual-which were never adressed by Gackt himself.).
