unlike what most k-pop fans think, stan is not just liking something. a stan is a psychotic fan who would do anything for the attention of their idol. (term originally by Eminem in his 2002 song Stan)

Stan is a mix of stalker and fan. Its a crazy fan who basically worships a celebrity. The word was popularized by Eminem and now it is generally used as a verb.
