Something that happens or has happened that leaves a permanent mark on someone's life mentally.
2. An event, usually traumatic or painful, that happened in the past that will remain with you, or in your memory for the rest of your life.
The reason why I am who I am today as an adult, is mostly because of the life-scarring events I went through as I a child.
