Coat-tails - what does it mean?

In other words, juss sassin' ya. Comes from da playful-but-annoying practice of coming up behind someone who's wearing a long jacket with a divided lower back, grabbing da jacket just above da slit, and then vigorously/rapidly yanking da lower part of da jacket in and out to make da pair of tails slap against da person's butt.

Me: If yer too warm, why doncha go take a dip in da ocean?
You: Jump in da ocean??? Are you crazy??? It's chilly and whitecaps-windy out there!
Me: I know, I know... juss flappin' yer coat-tails...! :D

Coat-tails - slang

The act of when driving, following the idea as such: Going faster than the slowest person but slowest than the fastest.

This way you can still drive over the speed limit but you use a "sucker" to be your buffer. They get a speeding ticket instead of you, thus you hide under their coat tail.

You stay in the pack of cars until someone willing to drive faster passes, you then accelerate to just under the speed they are going, riding on their coat tail. This way if there is a cop up ahead the guy you're coat tailing will be caught and you can slow down in case there is another nearby and not get in trouble. Then you wait for the next person to come along to coat tail. Works best on country roads, major highways and certain freeways as police will be in a single spot, watching both directions.

Doesn't work well on city streets when cops are common to come up behind you without you noticing. As well you don't want to be too close to the patsy as they may wise up and purposely slow down.
