A good gaming console, equal if not better than the Xbox 360 (let the thumbs down ratings flow), and features:
1. BluRay.
2. Free internet.
3. Wireless support right out of the box.
4. Playstation Store.
5. High Defenition gaming (complete with HDMI ports).
6. Memory card readers (SD and MicroSD).
7. Ability to use external hard drives to store data.
8. Faster internet browser than the PSP.
9.Blue Tooth support.
10. High quality graphics support.
The Playstation 3 is awesome...if you can afford it. =/
What does "PlayStation 3" mean?
Sony's newest system.
The PlayStation 3, will use Blu-Ray discs as its media format. The discs can hold up to six times as much data as current-generation DVDs. It will also support CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. It also confirmed the machine would be backward-compatible all the way to the original PlayStation. It will also have slots for Memory Stick Duo, a SD slot, and a compact flash memory slot. It will also sport a slot for a detachable 2.5 inch HDD somewhat similar the Xbox 360's.
Out of the box, the PS3 will have the capability to support seven Bluetooth controllers. It will also have six USB slots for peripherals--four up front and two in the back.
Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2 Ghz, giving the whole system 2.18 teraflops of overall performance. It will sport 256mb XDR main RAM at 3.2 Ghz, and have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700mhz.
Sony also unveiled the PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision, 1080p resolution, some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512mb of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has over 300 million transistors, larger than any processor available commercially today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process with 8 layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1000 total if bought today.
To show off the PlayStation 3's graphical brawn, Sony showed several game demos, including an Unreal 3 tech demo of what appeared to be Unreal Tournament 2007. In what must come as a relief to developers, Epic Games' Tim Sweeney was on hand to vouch for the PS3, saying it was "easy to program for" and that Epic had received its first PS3 hardware two months ago. He proved the tech demo was real time by showing it again and manipulating the camera and zooming in.
The PlayStation 3 will also sport some hefty multimedia features, such as video chat, internet access, digital photo viewing, digital audio and video

The PlayStation 3 is the third home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. The PlayStation 3 competes with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. The PlayStation 3 was first released in North America on November 17th 2006, which was followed by in Japan on November 11th 2006.
The PlayStation 3 offers a variety of features as listed below..
- Free online internet access, where Xbox 360 users have to pay for online access every month or year
- Can watch movies on the PS3 through Netflix, same goes for Xbox 360
- Has a bulit in blu-ray player to watch HD(High Definition) movies
- Has a built in fan to keep the PS3 from overheating
- Much harder to hack and of course less hackers, where as Xbox 360 has many
- Video editor & uploader
- And much more..

The PlayStation 3 is one of the new 7th generation game consoles which mainly competes with the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. The PlayStation 3, PS3 for short, was released on November 11, 2006 in Japan, and November 17, 2006 in the United States. It comes in two versions, the 20 gigabyte, and the 60 gigabyte. Both have hard drives, but the 20 gigabyte version does not have a chrome trim, built in Wi-Fi, or flash card readers, which the 60 gigabyte has. It has backwards compatibility with PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The 20 gigabyte version is $500 as of the release date, and the 60 gigabyte is $600. Both are high definition. There will be three available colors for the PlayStation 3: black, silver, and white, but as of the release date, the only available color is black. The white and silver are TBA. The PlayStation 3 comes with a wireless bluetooth controller; both versions have that. The PlayStation 3 is a great system, even though it is way expensive. The best value for the game system is the Nintendo Wii, in my opinion

PlayStation 3
Sony's current gen gaming console released in 2006. When released, the console was overpriced at $500 and $600 (although, this is nothing new). The console has built in wi-fi, blue ray player, and a removable hard drive. The console plays PlayStation 3 games, is able to play DVDs, CDs, BlueRay disks, and mp3s. It also features and internet browser. A PlayStation 3 owner can create a free account with the PlayStaion Network and will be able to download demos, buy certain games online (including certain PlayStation One classics), and game online. Currently, the price for the system is $300 and there is new "slim" model.
The system is in competition with Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Some argue that PS3 is the most powerful system of the three. Some developers have stated that the system is harder to program for. Just like the other systems, PS3 has a loyal fan base who feels that this system is best of the three and that the other two extremely inferior (these people are known as fanboys/girls and are extremely annoying).
Even though, the system has been on the market for a few years, it has suffered in sales, although, the sales have been climbing. Some argue, that the PS3 is a big disappointment and failure(like Sega Saturn). Due to recently dropped price, the system has seen a climb in sales.
Performance wise, the system has a low failure rate. On the other hand, there are constant firmware updates.
A note to fanboys and fangirls: Whatever system you support, you need to stop bashing the other systems. It is pointless and will not magically make the your system any better. All you do is try to justify your choice of a system. You are assuring yourselves that you made the right choice. All of the systems have their pros and cons. So, grow up and enjoy whatever system you have.
