What is Marilyn Manson?
Marilyn Manson is a misunderstood artist who was born Brian Hugh Warner in Canton, Ohio January 5th, 1969 with mother Barb Wyer and Hugh Warner. His father was a Catholic and mother Episcopalian. He was raised in his mother's religion, attending Heritage Christian School, though he later transferred out, graduating from Cardinal Gibbons High School in 1987. In 1990, Warner was a college student attending Broward Community College. He was working toward a journalism degree, and gaining experience in the field by writing music articles for a South Florida lifestyle magazine, 25th Parallel when he met several of the musicians to whom his own band would later be compared, including My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Warner formed Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in Florida in 1989 (the name was shortened to Marilyn Manson in 1992). While with The Spooky Kids, he was involved with Jeordie White (also known as Twiggy Ramirez) and Stephen Gregory Bier Jr. (also known as Madonna Wayne Gacy) in two side-projects: Satan on Fire, a faux-Christian death metal ensemble where he played bass, and drums in Mrs. Scabtree, a collaborative band formed with White and then girlfriend Jessicka (vocalist with the band Jack Off Jill)as a way to combat contractual agreements that prohibited Marilyn Manson from playing in certain clubs. In the summer of 1993, the band drew the attention of Trent Reznor. Reznor produced their 1994 debut album, Portrait of an American Family and released it on his Nothing Records label. The band began to develop a cult following, which grew larger with the release of Smells Like Children in 1995. That EP yielded the band's first big MTV hit with "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)", a cover of the 1983 Eurythmics hit. Antichrist Superstar (co-produced by Trent Reznor) was an even greater success. Three of the band's albums have been awarded platinum certification, three more gold, and the band has seen three of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Warner first worked as a producer with the band Jack Off Jill. He helped name the band and produce most of the band's early recordings, and also played guitar on the song "My Cat" and had the band open most of his South Florida shows. Warner later wrote the liner notes to the band's album Humid Teenage Mediocrity 1992-1995, a collection of early Jack Off Jill recordings. His stage name was formed from the names of actress Marilyn Monroe and convicted murderer Charles Manson.12 In 2004, the band's hit "mOBSCENE" was nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance". Warner made an appearance in the video game Area 51 as a Grey Alien named Edgar. His song "Cruci-Fiction In Space" is featured in a commercial for The Darkness. His likeness is also featured on the Celebrity Deathmatch video game for which he recorded a song for the soundtrack (2003). The song "Use your fist and not your mouth" was the credits score of the game Cold Fear as well as Spawn: Armageddon. According to his autobiography, Warner is six feet and three inches tall. Warner was offered the title of "Reverend Manson" by Church of Satan founder Anton Lavey and holds it as an honorary title, as described in his autobiography. He had been a long time fan of Dita Von Teese, and was a member of her website. They first met when he asked her to dance in one of his music videos. Though she was unable to, the two kept in contact. On his 32nd birthday, she arrived with a bottle of absinthe, and they became a couple. He proposed on March 22, 2004 and gave her a 1930s-era, 7-carat, European round-cut diamond engagement ring. On November 28, 2005, they were married in a private, non-denominational ceremony in their home. A larger ceremony was held on December 3 at Gurteen Castle in Kilsheelan (County Tipperary), Ireland, the home of their friend, Gottfried Helnwein.
He now is dating 19-year-old actress Evan Rachel Wood who starred in Manson's recent hit single, "Heart-Shaped Glasses (When The Heart Guides The Hand)" and is also rumored to appear in Manson's upcoming film "Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll".

What does "Marilyn Manson" mean?
This is a band that is known for it's controversial lead singer, Brian Warner (band-member name, Marilyn Manson). He is often seen as a devil worshipper and a satanist. Truth being none of his songs tell of any satanist activity. There are many rumors surrounding Mr. Warner, i.e. the infamous "He had his lower ribs surgically removed so that he could 'suck' his own 'dick'" many of these rumors are dispelled in his biography "Long Hard Road out of Hell". Besides, Manson has so many rabid fan girls I'm sure he can find a warm mouth whenever he wants. The band Marilyn Manson was originally known as Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. They later changed the name to Marilyn Manson, as a representative of their singular unity in their music. He is revered in our time as a rock god and the self-proclaimed anti-christ, although self admitted he only declaired himself the anti-christ for the shock value of the statement. Okay, there are posers that say they like Manson and they have no idea what music it is in the first place... but there are also good diehard fans like myself. I love the band and I love him to death.
He has great songs and not-so-great songs. However, at the end of the day, you'll see he is different, and if people keep on talking about him is because he is valid and has made you think of him and even post a definition here. He cares not about what people say about him, whether that be "he's an ugly woman", "he's a freak", "he is a joke". Really, he wouldn't have made it to where he is standing right now if he had paid attention to those comments.
Manson is an artist. He is into painting, literature, filmmaking and of course, music. He's done some sweet covers like "Sweet Dreams", "I put a spell on you" and "Get my rocks off", and not-so-great covers like "Tainted love" or "Personal Jesus". His best albums in my eyes, are Antichrist Superstar and Holy Wood (In the shadow of the valley of death). Off of this records, I recommend you take a look at 'Beautiful People', 'Man that you Fear', 'Mr. Supestar', 'The Hate Song', 'Valentine's Day' and 'Coma Black', among others. His early videoteque is amazing and quite artistic, back to his Antichrist Superstar days, working with Floria Sigismondi in the video 'Tourniquete' and 'Beautiful People'. His last videos have been a little different and more aimed to MTV crap and that shit, but the core of this band is really artistic.
Personally, I believe there isn't a particular age to start behaving maturely and to be able to say 'Yeah I know what I'm talking about'. A smart person is born smart and dies smart, a retard scumbag is born an idiot and dies like an idiot. I started listening to Manson when I was 10 and now I'm 18. I won't say I know a lot about music genres, but I truly don't care about it if I feel good listening to Manson's music. I never labeled myself as goth or anything like that, I just knew this guy was different and Marilyn Manson as a band is great. You can remain stupid and close-minded for all your life and even when you're 40 you'll still say he's goth and satanic. I don't mind explaining people why I think he is such a great influence. I do mind when people are retarded and bitch at the band because they pretend to be "SMART" and "NORMAL". If you want to be normal, you'll get lost in the crowd and nobody will remember your name. Manson chose otherwise and he'll be remembered, either for his "freaky" antics or his good music and twisted messages.
By the way, he doesn't need to put on make up or dress like a crack whore diva to get laid, I doubt he had trouble getting laid. He is married right now to Dita Von Teese (Heather Sweet). Weeding day took place in Ireland. He'll keep on making music and the day he quits, he'll do something else like filmmaking.
If you believe in only what you see, you're doomed to be afraid of world's misery. For once in your life open your mind and start to think. Do not follow trends or let some "smartass" influence your taste. Take a good look at Manson and if you're seriously convinced his music isn't your type, then it's okay; just don't go and start labelling Manson's fans as goths or prep teens, for we will label you as a worthless pseudo moral weak stupified asshole.
