Definder - what does the word mean?

What is Jehovah's Witnesses?

The Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult offshoot of the Millerite movement in the late 1800's. Founded by a known con man named Russell who used the "religion" as a scam to sell products such as "miracle wheat." They originally taught that the world would end in 1874. When that date came and went the teaching became that Jesus had returned to earth to begin ruling in 1874 and that the world would now end in 1914! Many "proofs" were offered to back up that date. Most were completely idiotic the measurements of the pyramids and the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 606 pop to mind!

However they were caught out again when 1914 came and went! So once again things had to change! Around that time a drunken adulterer actually seized control in a hostile takeover by buying out the stock of the religion and having the original "council" thrown off the Brooklyn property by the police! This self-appointed "judge" is largely responsible for the religion we know today as "Jehovah's Witnesses" (although many of their core doctrines have changed and indeed continue to change!) It was he who banned all outside celebrations birthday, Christmas, Easter etc... He did this on the weakest of possible grounds, inaccuracies and twisting of scripture. His goal was to completely alienate the witnesses from the general population. Make them feel different, better, special, a trick used by many cults today and throughout history. It’s a practice that witnesses still continue to this day!

He changed the dates again, saying now that Jesus had returned to power in 1914 the end was in 1918, then 1925 then 1935, by then the 1874 dates and stranger beliefs were being downplayed and ignored! After all these failed dates they were loosing members rapidly even with the new “preaching work” they were rapidly failing the “Witnesses” looked like they would soon become nothing more than a historical footnote! Around then “the judge” came up with a theory about the “generation” of 1914 and the “generation” that Jesus spoke of! He came up with a slick new campaign spearheaded by a public lecture and a book called “Millions now living will NEVER die” He said that the generation that saw the end of 1914 would be the same generation that saw the end of this wicked world! Thousands of witnesses quit their jobs sold their homes and belongings and hit the streets to preach this imminent destruction! The “judge” also organized an extremely “in your face” preaching style which was intended to start riots, beatings, and fights. He did this so that he could then take his new “religion” into the courtroom and gain publicity for his “Devine work.” The judge was an unabashed publicity hound! He had built a large mansion in California where he lived with his mistress and several other female attendants he encouraged others to sell all and preach while he lived in luxury and drove two 16 cylinder Cadillac’s!

Of course like all of their foolish prophecy the generation teaching also failed to come about and in 1995 the slogan and “generation teaching” was dropped. Many elderly witnesses are now living in poverty with no retirement or savings due to the fact that the end was so near… It’s very sad when you think about it!

This is a big trick of witnesses even today they change their beliefs CONSTANTLY and when deny that they ever believed differently! Some simple examples include the prophetic date for Jerusalem's fall (first 606 then someone pointed out that the year 0 was actually not a year, rather than admit that they were wrong they simply changed the historic date of the fall to 607??? WTF! This despite the fact that there are over 10,000 stone manuscripts from that time that date the fall to 587, which also agrees with a biblical time line!) Changing prophecy, 1874,1914,1918,1925,1935,1975 etc... The ever-changing medical policies, no organ transplants (thousands died from refusing) then in the 1970's suddenly that was ok... So sorry that you had to die! Then no blood or blood fractions, thousands died and thousands continue to die. Now blood fractions are fine but no whole blood (in fact if you add up all the allowed blood fractions it's nearly 94% of blood can be taken just not all at once...) you can eat a burger patty and lettuce, and pickle and a bun but if you put it all together god will kill you... This despite the clear fact that taking blood is not the same as eating blood and the penalty for eating blood in the bible was to 'be unclean until the evening' wasn't even a major sin! This group is really fucked up!

All of this garbage has been disproved so thoroughly that any unbiased person would simply laugh at these guys which is why their number are now on the decline in every single industrialized nation. Although they do still enjoy growth in third world nations!

By and large they are a failing religion, held onto by fanatics who simply won’t admit that they have given their lives to a publishing company… If you know any witnesses give them a hug they are having some hard times!

I'm a Jehovah's Witnesses I don't know what I'll believe tomorrow... That light sure keeps getting brighter!

The bible hasn't changed though?

Shut the fuck up! *fingers in ears* Light gets brighter, Light gets brighter, Light gets brighter!

Jehovah's Witnesses - what is it?

I see there is someone stating that the Jehovah Witnesses don't accept blood transfusions and that nowhere in the bible does it say anything about blood. Well I strongly disagree, I can tell you it is very clear Act 15:20 KJV "But what we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication and from things strangled(or killed without draining their blood) and from Blood."
Most people think a child died because the parents are Jehovah witnesses and they don't accept blood but didn't you think maybe the child died from complications and because they don't accept transfusions the child died from a complication.
Also look in to acts 2 15:28-29. "Jehovah Witness actually receive better medical treatment because they don't accept blood" (American Journal of Obstetrics and gynecology 1968).
All surguries including open heart surgery, brain surgury you name it. The army is actually now using the methods Witnesses have been using for years because there blood supply is down.

I'm so glad people don't know what they are talking about that they convince themselves that they know everything. Don't claim to know what the bible says or doesn't say if you have never read it. I will always quote from the King James Version, which is what is normally used in most christain churches. I am not a Jehovah Witness but I have studied with them and they are wonderful people and they don't just make up crazy things from no where their beliefs come staight from the bible. While everyone who is not a witness is reading this consider one thing where in the bible does it tell you that you are going to heaven if you are good? Good luck (just a hint it isn't in there I've studied the entire bible)

What does "Jehovah's Witnesses" mean?

Let me first say I am a Jehovah's Witness so what I am going to say is what we actaully believe in.

Jehovah is the name of God and we are His witnesses to carry on His word through the Bible.

We do not believe in the Trinity, Jehovah is God and Jesus is His son.

We believe blood transfusions are wrong and this is because in the Bible it says not to use the blood of others (or at least in that similiar sense)

We are NOT a cult if we get money it is from members of the Kingdom Hall we don't just knock on your door and say Hey can we have your money.

We come to your door because we want everyone to have knowledge of Jehovah (and when we come to your door we show respect and it would be nice to get it in return)
We don't celebrate the holidays because they are considered pagen so we do not particpate.

We follow the Bible it points us in the right direction and gives us faith and allows us to gain knowledge of Jehovah and His son Jesus.

We also believe that once you die you are cleared of your sins and you can live in paradise but if you try to go back to sinful ways you will be gone.

We believe there is not a Hell where you burn for eternity because of a life of wrong-doing and everyone does not go to Heaven only the chosen few, when you die the dead are unconcious of everything but you will be awaken by Jesus to live in the world of paradise.

I might not be right about every aspect but this is what I have learned through my father and I am only 16 so I have time to correct myself. I just wanted to do this because so many have a wrong impression of the people who are the same religion as me, and I wanted to give them correct information.

Jehovah's Witnesses are like normal people and just try to spread knowledge so everyone has the same oppurtunity.

Jehovah's Witnesses - what does it mean?

Jehovah's Witnesses are just normal people. I am writing because I am tired of people complaining about them coming to their doors at like 6 or 7 am, saying that they are a cult, that they want their children to die and so on... As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I can say from experience that all of this is NOT true. Our beliefs and outlooks on life, comes from the Bible. If you are reading this to get an understanding of Jehovah's Witnesses, PLEASE do NOT believe everything people say out there. If you want the truth about the religion, visit the website listed below or contact your local Kingdom Hall. Thanks!

Jehovah's Witnesses - meaning

The simple definition is as the name says Jehovah's Witnesses, or witnesses of Jehovah. In the texts of scriptures and writings from Moses to John, the word YHWH appears over 6700 times. No matter what language you use, whether you translate or transliterate, YHWH's name means "He who causes to become" and it directly points to His real name, which is the same in all languages.
Jehovah"He who causes to become", has caused to become the earth, all life on earth and even a way for all our sins to be washed away through the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ.
And what do we as humans need to do? Practice the teachings set out for us in the Bible! All countries worldwide today have laws regarding murder, rape, theft. WORLDWIDE, we as humans believe these things to be wrong. If humans are "created in God's image" would we not also have the same ideas genetically coded into us? We , as humans, also know that the current world society has declined since ancient times. We have not rooted out hunger. We have not prevented wars. We have not eliminated disease.

As humans, we strive to do our own thing, find our own way.
Is it possible for a race, who were caused to become, to find their own way?
Our history speaks volumes!

Jehovah's Witnesses go door to door because they believe in their hearts and minds that humanity can be saved because Jehovah wants all his children, who he "caused to become", to live and not to die through ignorance and pride.

Wouldn't you yell at the top of your lungs if you knew that your friends and family were about to be engulfed in a horrific and terrible natural disaster?

How do you respond?

Jehovah's Witnesses - definition

Many people have a wrong view of Jehovah's Witnesses, wich is unfortunate.

They have been falsely accused of not loving their children and letting them die.
They have been falsely accused of being against gouverment rules and disrespecting local authorities.

They have been falsely accused of trying to get as many followers as possible to get money.

These accusations are all wrong tho.

Many people do not know Jehovah's Witnesses are good, loving people. Often called strict, they are just welbehaved people, that care about others. They are knowed to leave the places they had congressations at totally clean.

Many people do not know Jehovah's Witnesses are everywhere on earth. They do everything posible to visit everyone on earth and tell them the good news about Gods Kingdom in their own language. Therefore they have translated the bible and their publications in more languages then any other book, wich sounds unbelievable, but is true.

Many people think Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to have fun in any way. The fact is tho that they have good reason for not participating in certain celebration, like christmas. Those celebrations are often pagan and Jehovah's Witnesses simply do not wish to participate in pagan rituals. Jehovahs Witnesses are allowed to do exercise and have fun, as long as it is not in violation with laws in the bible.

Many people do not know Jehovah's Witnesses have a totally different view about the future then most christian religions. They do not believe that bad people will burn forever in hell, and that all rightious people go to heaven. They believe that only a small group rightious people will go to heaven, the other rightious people can live forever in a paradise on earth. This will be posible after what they call Armageddon, in wich God will remove all bad people from earth, not sending them to a hell where they will suffer forever, but just destroying them.
Only good people will live forever on a paradise like earth, and that ofcourse is a very good thing to believe in. They want others to know this and that is one of the reasons they try to visit everyone.

Many people do not know Jehovah's Witnesses do not force their children or anyone else to get baptized or give money. Everyone is baptized because they want to, and their meetings are financed by their own gifts.

Many people do not know that they are called Jehovah's Witnesses instead of "Jehovas", wich they are called too often.

Many people do not know Jehovah's Witnesses welcome everyone who is interested to their meeting in their Kingdom Hall and are willing to give everyone who wants a free biblestudy.

For the best description of what they believe tho, its best to ask them in person, at their meeting or the next time they visit you for example.
They also have an official site, wich is viewable in 252 different languages:

Jehovah's Witnesses - slang

A F****D-up "religion" in which annoying people knock on your door and talk about their cult. DO NOT SUBMIT TO THEM. Their "religion" disposes of all holidays because they are "satanic" and blames other religions for faults in the world. They believe that they are the true Christians and that everyone else is crazy. (Yeah Right). They also believe that innocent little children going to Sunday School are working for the devil.

Jehovah's Witnesses are MORONS and are to STUPID realize that it is THEM who are working for the devil.

Jehovah's Witnesses

A Christian Religion that takes its name from the Bible book of Isaiah, meaning to be witnesses of Jehovah. Known worldwide to preach to others in various settings, most commonly at the doors of homes and businesses. Considered a cult by many, also rumored not to believe in Christ. Yet since they use the entire Bible, and base all their beliefs in the scriptures, it could not be logical that they would not believe in God's son.

The Jehovah's Witnesses were at my door today, they wanted to share a scripture with me and give me Bible based publications.

Jehovah's Witnesses

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians who believe that the Bible is God's word and that Jesus is their Savior. This Christian denomination dates back to the late 19th century. Charles Taze Russel is credited with organizing the first Bible study groups that later gave origin to the Jehovah's Witness sect; these groups focused on Bible prophecy and the second coming of Christ. This second coming is said to have happened invisibly in 1914 - a date that was originally thought to mark the end of the world or Armageddon. Their name comes from the Bible, the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 43, Verses 10 and 11. The meaning behind the name is rather clear. It indicates that they bear witness to Jehovah - Jehovah being the personal name of God. There are about 16.6 million Jehovah's Witnesses around the world, with only three countries (US, Brazil, and Mexico) holding a population of over half a million. Of that number, approximately 6.7 million Jehovah's Witnesses are involved in active preaching and are part of the official statistic count. They believe in a supreme God - a spirit which has a body, but not a human body. Jesus is the Lord and Savior but He is not a part of God. They do not believe in the Trinity - the father, son and holy spirit - as, for example, Catholics do. Rather, Jesus is separate from God and was God's servant on Earth. Jesus is also said to have been given an exalted status in heaven to a higher level than angels.

Because they believe Jesus is not God, that prayer is a form of worship, and that one must not worship false gods, they pray to God, not Jesus. They believe that after the end of the world, which is imminent, 144,000 people will get a chance to go to heaven. The rest will have a chance to be resurrected and live on a permanent paradise on Earth, as long as they are virtuous in life. Those judged unrighteous will cease to exist. Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in a remaining soul after death. They believe all other religions to be false and are deeply involved in preaching as a way to impart the hope of resurrection to humanity. Politics is not an important part of life, as they believe governments will also be destroyed imminently. They rarely vote, and they do not take part in anything that has to do with national politics, including the singing of the national anthem or saluting the flag. They also do not celebrate birthdays or Christmas, and most avoid Thanksgiving, which they consider to be a Pagan holiday. Weddings and funerals are observed, and celebrating anniversaries is not forbidden. They tend to be conservative. Homosexuality, premarital sex, and abortion are considered sins. They do not accept blood transfusions, even if it means death. However, more and more hospitals are now using bloodless techniques in surgery, often crediting Jehovah's Witnesses as their push to research alternatives.

Jehovah's Witnesses

Students of the Bible who preach the "Kingdom of God." They claim that their God--Jehovah--is using Jesus Christ to bring an end to the world as we know it.

One of Jehovah's Witnesses knocked on my door, shared a scripture, and offered me a Watchtower magazine.
