Eyestrain brought on by too many hours of looking at low-res, poorly tuned, or glare-ridden monitors, esp. graphics monitors.

Raster - what is it?

A slang term used by hackers to describe Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).

Irritation of the eyes that occurs after hours of staring into a LCD or CRT computer monitor, where the millions of phosphor dots start to "burn" your eyes. This happens especially after looking at plain text for hours, such as when writing code.

Using the green-over-black color scheme while coding reduces raster-burn, as does wearing lightly tinted sunglasses, especially if they are polarized.

What does "raster" mean?

A skateboarding grind in which the back trucks grind while the nose of the board starts out pointing over the object and ends with the nose pointing away from the object.

This grind is a combination of a salad grind, and a suski grind. The rider transitions from one grind to the other.

The grind was originated by Brian El and was named after the sweeping effect seen on old radar displays.

The last time i saw Brian do a raster grind was on a marble ledge downtown.

I went to Cindy's art party in New York City, and I saw 10 guys with dreadlocks, skinny jeans, and Marley shirts. What a bunch of Rasters!

Rasterized: verb. When one becomes disoriented from drinking and listening to too much techno in a bad club, resulting in dancing like a prick, losing all of one's personal belongings, fighting, and/or passing out somewhere random.
