What is pufters?
One of many terms used to describe a gay man. Pufter can also be spelt puffter or poofter, and is used the same as gay or queer. It's also the longer alternative to puf, puff or poof

Pufters - what is it?
Pufters are Irish lads who privately hold a gay romance while outwardly displaying homophobia. Generally pufters will move away from Ireland together so they can hold their relationship without the danger of being exposed in their home country.
