What is horse whip?

A medium to long woven leather handheld rope like utensil, @ 7-10' long, up to 2" thick- used to get the attention through pain of a wild animal.

Although the steer was out of control, getting hold of my trusty HORSE WHIP really got it's attention to be saddle broken.
