What is doing the math?
Refers to taking accounting as a major in college. Sometimes called "Doing the math thing," it refers to the tedium of math calculations in the preparation for the job and in the jog itself.
I'm going after the higher paying money jobs after college so I am "doing the math."

What does "doing the math" mean?
An activity typically undertaken by single women between the ages of 27 and 33. The objective of "doing the math" is for the woman to determine the youngest age at which she could earliest enter into a marriage and, later, have a child. The end result being that the woman determines the extent to which she will lower her standards.
Krystal: "Chrystal, I'm almost 30. Do the math. If I met a guy today, it would be at least two years before we get engaged, then another year to get married and then another year to live together before we might start trying to have a baby. That means I would be at least 33 when I have my first kid. I don't want to be 33 when I start having kids! Do you know any single guys?"
Chrystal: "No."
Pete: "I'm 30 and single."
Steve: "So?"
Pete: "....."
Doing the math - what does it mean?
1-What you tell someone when they can't figure out what someone or something actually means before explaining it to them
2- To figure out what will happen because of a certain event
1-Person 1: Why do you think my mom's a ho?
Person 2: Dude, do the math, she goes out every night wearing a tube top and a thong.
2-Person 1: "So why do you think she's going to break up with me?"
Person 2: "Do the math, man. She's moving to another state. You can try to keep it together but eventually she's gonna dump you"
Doing the math - meaning
To analyze a situation to a logical conclusion.
I was the last one to leave last night and the first one here this morning and my candy dish is empty only the fat security guard was here, you do the math.

1: It's logical, especially without anyone else's opinions.
2: Figure it out yourself, especially without anyone else's wisdom.
NOTE: "Do The Math" to me is based on happenings that are correctly added up and bottom-lined.
