What is chikala?
A very versatile Zambian word from the Bemba language. It literally translates to “penis” or the male genitalia. In contemporary times, the word is the equivalent to “nigga”, it can be used ins friendly and endearing way with friends or as an outright insult. Here, context also matters!

Chikala - what is it?
This word is very versatile in the Zambian community, originally it means penis but the youth of today in the same context as the word "nigga". The word chikala is a commonly used word amongst the youth and also old head.
"Iwe chikala, open the gate." as an insult "chikala chobe (your penis)."
