B’y - what does it mean?

The term “b’y” can be used to either emphasize a word or phrase, or to end a statement or sentence. The term is used widely by Newfoundlanders as well as many Cape Bretoners...who would like to be Newfoundlanders.

Emphasis - “Jesus b’y, will you frig right off?!”, or “Yes b’y, I knows now”.

Ending - “Dat party at Skipper’s shed was a dandy time b’y”, or “Whatta ya gettin on wit b’y?”
