Of all the weapons in the vast Soviet arsenal, nothing is more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947... more commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It'll shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists.

What does "ak-47" mean?
Originally developed and finalized by Mikhail Kalashnikov in the year 1947, the AK47 was meant to be a rifle for tank crews, who could not fit a full sized rifle into their tank. It was so successful that it was adopted by the Russian army, and exported to all of Russia's allies. It's most recognizable feature is its superb reliability, it will function in environments that other weapons would malfunction in. It fires 7.62 x 39mm ammunition(by comparison, an M16 fires 5.56 x 45mm).
This is the AK47 assault rifle. It is the preferred weapon of your enemy, and it makes a very distinct sound when fired at you.

7.62x39mm Soviet, 30-round clip. Has countless variants. Today it is black-marketted by terrorist cells (mostly because the AK is easy to make).
The AK-47 has been reported to have certain performances that surpass that of the Colt M16 series, and one reason is because the AK doesn't contain as many moving parts (therefore, maintenance is very easy). The AK-47 can also brave any type of harsh condition and environment.

The Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947 is a gas operated, selective fire assault rifle designed from 1945 to 1946 by Soviet tank commander Mikhail Kalashnikov to fill the need for a rifle-caliber automatic infantry weapon within the Soviet military, after experiences against the German StG-44 which deeply influenced Soviet doctrine in the post-war years. It has become the single most prolific weapon ever created, with models in use by military and police, or civilian consumers in nearly every country in the world. The AK-47 is best described as an amalgamation of several previous weapons designs. It has the Trigger, Double locking lugs, and unlocking raceway of the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine, the Safety mechanism of the John Browning designed Remington Model 8, and the layout and gas system of the StG-44.
Versions of the AK-47 include the following:
AK-47 Type 1/2(1948-1951) - Most rifles manufactured with a milled steel receiver.
AK-47 Type 3(1952) - All rifles manufactured with a milled steel receiver.
RPK - Handheld Automatic-Rifle variant with a longer barrel and a bipod.
AKM - Modernized variant with various improvements over the AK-47.

Kick ass gun made by a russian weapons designer by the name of Kalashnikov. It's the weapon of choice of the third world, dictator militias in developing countries, coup d'etats, gangs, and just about anyone who wants an inexpensive, durable, SMG performance rifle that's feared by every law enforcement group in the world (except for russian police, AK's are a standard issue there).
They fire the mid-sized but powerful 7.62x39 mm round at a mid-range fire rate, but the shiznit they punch out makes an american m-4 look like it's airsoft counterpart. This advantage is even complimented with the ease of use of the gun, easy found ammo, and durability of the carbine. You can literally throw a kalashnikov in the mud and stuff it with sand and fire it after without any jamming or messing of the barrel.
However, the AK isn't much of of a long range advocate. With open iron sights and warping wood stocks, you can't really trust the aim of the gun at any moment. But hell, that's where the phrase "spray and sweep" gets it's name from. Unload a 30 clip in the general direction of your target and your bound to put at least 5 rounds into em.
