What is Thete?
The fourth and lowest rung of the social structure of Athens during the Archaic through the Hellenistic and even Roman periods of Greek society.
The Thetes were given their much deserved rights under the Strategos Ephialtes as one of his many reforms in Athens after the exile of Cimon.
