What is FULL METAL ALCHEMIST?

-An excellent colorful anime full of comedy, drama, fantasy, and yes, even metal :P. I was somewhat apprehensive because of the overall apearance of the show at first (you know, big googly eyes, and manga-ish reactions) but I was pleased to see that they did this just to draw in the more immature crowd who like bright and shiney objects, etc,. The overall plot just keeps on getting thicker and thicker, with new twists and turns that is not often found nowadays in anime.
-The only thing that I can think of that is "wrong" with the show is that it has bad comedic timing, like if someone coughs blood, it gives them a split-second, almost comic-like look to them (this actually does happen).
-Though it is still not my favorite anime, it is surely making its way up my list (cowboy bebop being at the top, of course). It has a great storyline, tear-jerking scenes, (both comedic and tragic)and excellent character-development, the thing that I look for the most to define a good series.

I give this series an A-. Good job Ed and Al!

Just a small author's note: I am not what you would call a typical anime fan (though some of you may say that there is no such thing as a "typical" anime fan, you're just the kind of people I'm talking about). To give you a visual: I am 17-years-old, blonde, straight, normal/somewhat pretty, 125lb girl, who never wears rainbow stockings, OR freaky cat ears, is not in the "goth" group, or any other punk-emo whatever group....and uh...did I forget any other stereotypes, hmmm...oh well it'll come to me later. Anyhoo, I just wanted to say that so you know that you guys are not hearing from the same people over and over again.

Oh. Yea. Watch the show.

Full Metal Alchemist is on my top 5 list of great animes, and I've seen 16.

About the Inu yasha/ full metal thing...uh, which definition do you think your on?
go b*tch about it somewhere else where people might actually care.

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST - what is it?

A fairly good anime.

Some fanboy/fangirl who can't even spell Inu-Yasha says that it is not as good as Inu-Yasha.
I beg to differ; any episode of FMA is, in my opinion, as good or better than even the best three episodes of Inu-Yasha combined.

What does "FULL METAL ALCHEMIST" mean?

An anime voted, called, and said to be one of the best ever.

Fullmetal Alchemist got voted 3rd out of 200 on http://www.animenfo.com/

In response to the question of which is better, Inuyasha or Fullmetal Alchemist, Inuyasha pales in comparison to Fullmetal Alchemist as a series that is dragged on, has pointless characters, over used humor, repetative plot, pointless filler and OAV episodes, poor endings and dubbing, sometimes shoddy animation, over used fight scences, and you get bored and can never quite finish watching all 300 some epsodes, while Fullmetal Alchemist has a mear 51 and has an interesting and absorbing plot, explained characters, well paced, and execellent animation, and interesting voices and a seamless intergration of drama, humor, and horror.

Therefore, a better anime than Inuyasha.

And I've seen both.

Inuyasha is for anime wannabes.

Go watch some real anime like Hellsing, Evangelion, or Fullmetal Alchemist.

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST - what does it mean?

It's actually spelt "Fullmetal Alchemist", but... It's about a boy named Edward Eric who loses his arm and leg while his brother loses his body and gets his soul stuck in a piece of armor.

They then travel to try and find the Philoshiphor's stone.

Extra note: I can spell "Inuyasha" fine. I'm a fan of both series. And I tell you now, stop fighting! Look, none of the plot is better than the other! One's trying to find jewel shards, the other trying to find a stone! They've both got great plot, great characters, great humor. So just... stop it. And try to enjoy both series without comparing or muttering about how one of them sucks because thatjust ruins the experience.

"Fullmetal Alchemist is a great show!"

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST - meaning

An anime based loosely on the Manga of the same name that contains 51 episodes. The story revolves around the Elric brothers who after comiting the ultimate taboo of human transmutation, set off on a journey to take back what was lost.

The anime and Manga diverge after the first arc and popular opinon states that the manga is easier to understand. The anime was developed by Bones, the same studio to work on cowboy bebop and wolf's rain.

There is also a video game out on the playstation two which has recieved mixed reviews. Popular with those who already fans of the anime or manga, gamers find the gameplay too simple for such a complex idea as alchemy.

The opening theme song, ready, steady, go is by the popluar j-rock band l'arc en ciel that came to the US for a live concert at Otakon, paired with the early showing of the first two episodes of the anime.

(aside)
For those of you using this to slander FMA or Inuyasha I really wonder what kind of lives you have. This is supposed to be semi informative. Also which is better is a matter of opinion. Both are very popular series. Rather than attack another series it is better to watch a variety of anime and read a variety of manga so that you can be exposed to different types since Inu yasha does end, as does FMA and you'll eventually want to find another series to obsess over. I happy anime is growing in popularity since it ean that more animes are being brought over, such as inu yasha and FMA. Why not instead of attacking eachother with poor grammer and worse spelling go out and get a copy of last exile, serial experiments lain, x/1999, hellsing, read or die, or a studio ghibli movie?

"Full Metal Alchemist vs. Inu Yasha is a stupid argument."

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST - definition

An excellent anime bases loosely off of the manga series. It takes place in a world where alchemy is real and a science with certain laws and rules. The first and most important one is that nothing can be gained without sacrificing something of equal value in exchange. This is the Law of Equivalent Exchange. Two young brothers, Edward and Alphonse (Ed and Al for short) Elric who are gifted alchemists ignore the Law and try to bring their mother back to life. Because there is nothing that can equal the value of a human soul, Ed and Al succeed only in bringing back a mutilated body of their mom. Al loses his entire body in the process while Ed loses a leg. Ed then sacrifices his right arm to attach Al's soul to a suit of armor.
Now the brothers want to regain their original bodies back but the only way to do so is to use the mysterious Philosopher's Stome which can bypass the laws of alchemy. Ed, now sporting automail limbs in place of the one he lost, becomes a State Alchemist of the militarian government to access data on the Stone.
The series follows the boys' adventures as they try to find this Stone and face corrupt military leaders, chimera, homunculi, and other alchemists. Though most of the time it's serious and a real tear-jerker at some scence, it has it's share of comedy and laughter.
It has a well written plot, original characters, and great artwork.

Full Metal Alchemist is a great anime every anime-fan should at least preview it before saying how rotten it is compared to other animes.

The story of Edward and Alphose Elric, two alchemists who tried human transmutation. Ed lost his arm and leg during this, and Al his whole body! With his remaining strength, Ed sacrificed his leg for Al's soul and captured it in a suit of amour. Ed becomes a State Alchemist and serches for the Philospher's Stone, so he can bring back his mother and return Al to his normal state. But the road to the Philospher's stone is a dangerous one...

Actually Spelled 'Fullmetal Alchemist'. Japanese title is Hagane no Renkinjutshi. Main characters are Ed and Al Elric, Winry, Roy Mustang, Hughes, and the homunculus. (Others, but I'm too lazy to write them all out)

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST

An excellent show with an original plot and endearing characters. Even though the pacing suffers in the second half, this show is a pioneering anime that blends humor, legend, and characterization to produce a true anime classic.

Regarding the ridiculous flame war between Inu Yasha fans and FMA fans:

Inu Yasha is funny and somewhat interesting, but it suffers from horrible pacing, pointless filler episodes, and jaded anime hallmarks that wear out quickly. FMA may have a few scattered cliches, but it never slows down as a series.

Hey, at least it ended.

Hagaren is an exciting new anime from Hiromu Arakawa.

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST

Full Metal Alchemist is one of the best anime to come out in this generation with great charcaters one of the best plots ive ever seen and a great mix. of Humor, Action, Science fiction and loads of other stuff. Not saying that Inu-Yasha is bad but FMA is proboly going to be #1 for a while. This is what anime should be.

Human Kind cannot gain anything without giving something in return

To obtain something of equal value must be lost

This is Alchemys first law of Equvulant Exchange

In those days we really tought for that to be the worlds one and only truth

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST

A japanese manga/anime. Edward and Alphonse both lost something important to them. Edward, being the bigger brother, lost his leg while performing a human transmutation for his dead mother, due to this failure, Alphonse, his little brother, lost his whole body. With Edward's last strength he gave up his arm and was able to cast his brother's soul into a suit of armor. After finding out that a human transmutation is "impossible," they've journeyed to find the Philospoher Stone. The philsopher stone is a rumor that has made every alchemist in the 16-17 century worked up on finding this stone. It is because it can, make you wealthier, longevity, bring the dead back, turn lead into gold, brings anything you desire. However, on their journey, they meet chimeras and homunculus.....

You cannot gain something without losing something. You have to present something with the equal value to gain the thing you desire. This is the code of equivalent trade in alchemy- An Actual Alchemy Code
