What does "Breakfast club" mean?

Sometimes misinterpreted as a teen flick about a couple preps, it is the defining movie for a generation. It is about a jock, a cheerleader, a nerd, a, "basket case," and an early punk being stuck in a library for full day Saturday detention. One of the best movies of all time, it influenced a generation. The song, "Don't You Forget About Me," will still make any tough Senior cry.

Watch it. Love it. Live it. I dress like the punk one 24/7.

Breakfast club - meaning

A movie that everyone in high school can relate to.

Quick Summary -
Four types of people: a brain, an athlete, a basketcase, a princess, and a criminal. They all spend saturday detention in the library for 8 hours. At first they seem to have nothing in common and all just want to get it over with..

But throughout the movie, they help each other out in little ways and open up about their lives to each other & they realise they're not that different.

Breakfast club - slang

the best movie i have ever seen. its funny and drmatic at the same time. its about five people who are completely different, having to spend a day in detention together. They come to relaize that their differences can bring them closer, and in many ways theyre a lot alike. the "impossible" was reached (having them all relate) and they formed the breakfast club. greatest movie iv seen so far in my life.

"you may not talk, you may not move from these seats, and you may not sleep"

Breakfast club

A group of young people, generally late teens or early twenties, just starting out in life, at the start of their adult life who generally are well educated and think that they know it all but have no life experience and have led a fairly sheltered life.

Quite often they are in positions of minor power because of the skills shortage. For example, they may have a degree and been thrust straight into a management position from university whereas in the past it would have taken 10-15 years to get to such a position.

They usually dress is designer labels with their hair meticulously preened (the boys too).

They usually believe that they know best in any given situation and will not take guidance from older people who have had experience in the relevant topic or area.

They tend not to relate to older people or those from different backgrounds so tend to stick within their own groups.

A business or government department being run or staffed by a group of young people is referred to as being 'a breakfast club'.

Don't try and tell the Breakfast Club over there know how to run the show, they know how to do it, they read it somewhere.
