blackwashing isn't a term and you shouldn't call someone making a white character black 'blackwashing'
my reason: black characters don't get much representation in media, like think of black characters, now think of white characters, see you have thought of a lot of white characters. though it is not okay to change a real persons skin color and call it representation.
person 1: "ugh they blackwashed my favorite character"
person 2: *explains to them that its ok to make a characters skin color darker and that blackwashing isnt a real term*

blackwashing is not harmful, or has a harmful history. if you go into more research about it, in fact it doesn't exist. for starters, " fixing " art that are harmless headcanons is also racist.

An attempt to make white history irrelevant and to make oppressed people look as they achieved something.
Ex: why is the green knight a Muslim?

Greatest example is the black Spider-Man. Spider-Man is prodominatly white so when they realized he was a appealing to the African American community they made a black version of him. In reality big corporations just ponder to you cause you all think the same and pay for anything that converts to your cults.

Blackwashing - slang
The opposite of whitewashing but still have the same concept. trying to change a person color just to inflict insult,hate,provoke,spite,envy and impose their ideology on another individual.
While this term is common in the western world, it does not exist in Asian countries due to the different culture and history.
Blackwashing can also be seen mostly in social media where the so called artists try to "fix art" into their westernized 'ideal art' despite the fact it looks normal.

Blackwashing
An example of hypocrisy in modern SJW thought, whereby the moral case made by SJWs against historical whitewashing, is somehow negated when it comes to erasing whiteness from white scripted characters. In a twisted try at remediating past racial injustices against blackness, by plying new ones against "whiteness."
This is done by turning white characters into black characters. Typically the gospelers of such action, shriek madly against the wrongness of such a switch, if it is applied in the form of white washing. But have no problem, indeed think it virtuous in the form of blackwashing.
Example-Turning Mary Jane Watson, "MJ," from the beautiful fair redheaded maiden in the older Spiderman movies, into the vaguely mixed race "MJ" in the new Spiderman movies.
(Blackwashing) In the 2021 release of Dune, fans of the Dune books were pissed but not shocked, to see Paul's love interest Chani, who was depicted by white actress Sean Young in David Lynch's Dune, put forth as a vaguely brown woman, in the form of Zendaya.

Blackwashing
Blackwashing is when a person changes a character's previous race to black. Blackwashing is just as bad as whitewashing, and it's a fact. The only acceptable reason is if you do that solely for fun. In terms of representation, it sucks ass because creating a black original character is not that hard and absolutely not problematic, unlike looking down at a specific race and deciding the character is better when it's black.
