Definder - what does the word mean?

What is Blackwashing?

blackwashing isn't a term and you shouldn't call someone making a white character black 'blackwashing'
my reason: black characters don't get much representation in media, like think of black characters, now think of white characters, see you have thought of a lot of white characters. though it is not okay to change a real persons skin color and call it representation.

person 1: "ugh they blackwashed my favorite character"
person 2: *explains to them that its ok to make a characters skin color darker and that blackwashing isnt a real term*
person 1: *understands and gets it*
and the conversation is over

Blackwashing - what is it?

blackwashing is not harmful, or has a harmful history. if you go into more research about it, in fact it doesn't exist. for starters, " fixing " art that are harmless headcanons is also racist.

Person 1: Why did they make ( fictional character ) black in this picture?

Person 2: Its a head canon
Person 1: Its blackwashing though!
like any decent person: blackwashing doesn't exist. it doesn't have a harmful history behind it, its not washing anyone of color

if you think blackwashing exists, try looking up on wiki how not to be a social reject, because it doesn't exist. your either racist or uneducated.

Blackwashing - meaning

Blackwashing- The act of African Americans who self hate and deny the transatlantic slave trade. Descendants with no distinct DNA like the homogeneous American Indians

African American trying to erase the indigenous Americans or what are also known as the Aboriginals of the Americas... a group so varied in color and DNA with genetics from the continent of Africa, Europe and Asia claiming to be indigenous to the Americas with brown complexion and not copper like the distinct copper indians of the Americas were among a homogeneous group with distinct DNA untouched by anybody let alone people from the East. You have these Africans whos ancestors didnt even all look alike claiming to be indigenous to the Americas... A HOMOGENEOUS LAND BEFORE 1492 when Europeans brought African captives. Aboriginal bloods have ancestors from North (Alaska) to Southern tip Chile that all share the same DNA and look almost similar apart from their climatic adaptations. Every black person's ancestors don't look like every black person's ancestors because they're the product of ancestral mixing in the Eastern Hemisphere having European Asian and African genetic markers.

Blackwashing - definition

An attempt to make white history irrelevant and to make oppressed people look as they achieved something.

Ex: why is the green knight a Muslim?
โ€œWell you see here a lot of minority cry how they arenโ€™t involved and never will be so we play pretend so everyone feel goodโ€.

Greatest example is the black Spider-Man. Spider-Man is prodominatly white so when they realized he was a appealing to the African American community they made a black version of him. People will fight tooth and nail to โ€œNO HES A DIFFERENT VERSIONโ€ but was really only created to make people feel as they accomplished a racial feat. In reality big corporations just ponder to you cause you all think the same and pay for anything that converts to your cults.

STARFIRE โ€” she was supposed to be DC last hope at having a baddie but they got all cultural and hired a Rachet. We all know that was wrong and she could never be starfire.

โ€œDid you guys see the new teen titans ??
โ€œNo they started Blackwashing it so we silently boycotted.โ€

Also another movie that went into the dumpster fire cause of this was fantastic four lol who actually watched that..& itโ€™s cause they tried making a cool ass Jonny blaze into a race baiting loser. Just saying

Blackwashing - slang

The opposite of whitewashing but still have the same concept. trying to change a person color just to inflict insult, hate, provoke, spite, envy and impose their ideology on another individual.

While this term is common in the western world, it does not exist in Asian countries due to the different culture and history.

Blackwashing can also be seen mostly in social media where the so called artists try to "fix art" into their westernized 'ideal art' despite the fact it looks normal.

popo: lea is a victim of this Blackwashing art, some trying to changed his style into westernized artsy

liko: lea is asian, its common sense she will draw asian art style embedded with asian culture
popo: yup, those people are literally being racist without even knowing.

liko: everyone should love each other arts and inspire not insult and inflict hatred.
popo: wished everyone is like that be respectable...

Blackwashing

An example of hypocrisy in modern SJW thought, whereby the moral case made by SJWs against historical whitewashing, is somehow negated when it comes to erasing whiteness from white scripted characters. In a twisted try at remediating past racial injustices against blackness, by plying new ones against "whiteness."

This is done by turning white characters into black characters. Typically the gospelers of such action, shriek madly against the wrongness of such a switch, if it is applied in the form of white washing. But have no problem, indeed think it virtuous in the form of blackwashing.

Example-Turning Mary Jane Watson, "MJ," from the beautiful fair redheaded maiden in the older Spiderman movies, into the vaguely mixed race "MJ" in the new Spiderman movies.

(Blackwashing) In the 2021 release of Dune, fans of the Dune books were pissed but not shocked, to see Paul's love interest Chani, who was depicted by white actress Sean Young in David Lynch's Dune, put forth as a vaguely brown woman, in the form of Zendaya.

Blackwashing

Taking a character from a movie, TV show, etc of a certain ethnicity and replacing them with a black representation of that original character

"I didn't like the blackwashing they did to the little mermaid, it made it tacky and unauthentic"

Blackwashing

Blackwashing is when a person changes a character's previous race to black. Blackwashing is just as bad as whitewashing, and it's a fact. The only acceptable reason is if you do that solely for fun. In terms of representation, it sucks ass because creating a black original character is not that hard and absolutely not problematic, unlike looking down at a specific race and deciding the character is better when it's black.

(for representation)
A: I fixed this art and now the character looks better.
B: Dude that's just straight up blackwashing.
A:"Blackwashing'' doesn't exist, you're just racist that you won't accept POC representation!
A: Besides, this character looks better as black.
B:And that's the problem, you just think a certain race is superior than others when really everyone should be equal. This ''representation'' doesn't help with anything but offend those who have the same race as the character's original design.

(for fun)
A: Hi check out my drawing of this character as a black person, i think they look neat.
B: Oh, looks cool but why did you change their race?
A: It's nothing really, i just thought of drawing this for fun.
B: Alright, besides that's a nice drawing!
A: Thank you!
