Cab Calloway produced some "hepster dictionaries" in the form of free booklets given away with his recordings of the time.
2)A partner dance from the 1950s based upon a 6-count pattern. A rather simplistic descendent of the more complex and exciting Lindy Hop. Danced to rockabilly, early rhythm 'n' blues, rock 'n' roll and sometimes swing, although Lindy is the preferred dance.

An 1970s/early 1980s slang word for saying someone is trying to deceive or lie to you. It could also be used as a way to say "he/she's just kidding around!". It can be used in a positive or negative context. Usually used a lot in the American Television series "Good times", also used in the well known song from the BeeGees "Jive Talkin"
Jiving means lying, trying to deceive, or kidding around.
Person 1: "I got the job!"
Person 2: "Man, You jivin'!"
or
Person 1:" i got the clothes done"
Person 2: "stop jiving! i know you didn't!"
