A movement that started in the 60's for people who sat on their asses with long hair and beards who smoked pot all day and were into peace and love

What does "hippies" mean?
Hippies are basically a very hypocritical bunch.
Based on sixties culture of sex and drugs. It was a way for alot of semi attractive guys to get laid by convincing women that they were shunning the garbs that society had put on them, then getting them wasted and evevtually pregnant.
The modern day equivalent involves being insanely self absorbed and selfish, bitching about the state of the world and its environment, whilst driving vehicles that use ridiculous amounts of fuel. Then surfing the internet and watching the TV, doing nothing useful and living off benefits.
They are complete bunch of pot smoking scum that need to be eradicated from the earth, if only for their terrible tie-dyed shirts.
In short they are cunts.

A 'subculture' group started in the 1960s. Hippies are often characterized by a mellow attitude and anti-fascist politics. Many hippies do various drugs, but not all of them do.

Hippies - definition
A race of hobos that live within nature zones. Their daily diet is composed of marijuana, lsd, and munchies. They're minds are composed of liberal ideals, their bodies are usually covered with organic materials such as cotton, and they usually pack together to attack business firms when traveling to cities. Their transportation are usually economic vehicles, such as: horses, volkswagen vans, buses, or walking.
Hobos are homeless people that live in the city.
Hippies are hobos that live outside of the city in nature.

hippies are a group composed mainly of artists which emerged in the 60s and since then their image has been distorted badly. they get ripped on for being whiney assholes who hide behind lawyers and try to control what people think. but in reality any hippies left are usually just the old guys just trying to help with the litle shit and trying to make some lives a litle bit easier. the assholes you see are yuppies who want to be hippies but are to damn uptight and try to make the world better by controling others to think like them and try to convince you that eating tofu is going to make everyones life better while the corporations feed off of their stupid fucking predictability and use the dumb motherfuckers to make more fucking money.

1. A youth subculture from the late 1960's. The hippie subculture embraced drug use, political activism, communal living (not necessarily socialism) and generally clean living. Hippies wore patched, baggy clothing, beads and headbands. The men grew their hair long, and sometimes grew beards, and the women didn't wear bras, as they saw the undergarment as an attempt by men to determine how women were shaped.
2. A modern subculture resembling the hippies of the 60's, but without the political activism or the philosophical edge. Both the men and the women wear their hair in dreadlocks, and wear tie dye t-shirts and baggy corduroys with rows of patches up the sides. Modern hippies listen to groups such as Phish, the Greatful Dead and the String Cheese Incident, and hold a mythological reverence for the state of Vermont.

I’m sure at one point in time, hippies once stood for something. But none of that really matters now because the new wave of faux-hippies has completely trampled out any past achievements and set the whole movement back at least four-hundred years.
Your modern day hippie is a white, middle-to-upper-middle class 20-year old college student. He (or she) will drive a hybrid or some other “green” car that they own because their yippie parents bought it for them.
He will live in your local coffee/tea café and go on and on about western or eastern philosophy, depending on his personal bent, until blood shoots out of your ears. When he runs out of pretentious, grandiose questions to pose, he will proceed to make Noam Chomsky look like Rush Limbaugh with his political rhetoric.
He will probably hang out with homeless people to earn “street cred,” not realizing that these same people want nothing more than this hippie to have a seizure from too much LSD so they can make off with a wallet full of cash.
Words such as “word,” “chill,” and “dank” will be used. These three words will most likely even be used in the same sentence to describe Phish to someone. He will treat the police like shit because the police are “the man” and more importantly, “the man who stole my drugs.”
What a shame that all of these free spirits will one day be shackled down with corporate jobs, wearing tailored suits, (and Jerry Garcia ties) telling their uninterested kids how awesome they once were.
