What is die off?
Phrasal verb which designates a massive loss of life, for example a dying population in the animal or plant kingdom.
Either by man's intervention (like genocide), or the result of devastating environmental factors (e.g. natural disasters).
It may also be used in an abstract sense, especially in the form of an insult .
