What is backpack rap?
Rap that isn't mainstream.
Backpack rappers are underground non-mainstream hip-hop artists. The backpack came from the fact that they used to carry backpacks to hold their rhymes and anything else that they chose to carry
Ex: Macklemore doesn't rap about getting pussy, but he raps about things that matter like gay rights.
"My man Mac has got some serious backpack rap skills!"
