Definder - what does the word mean?

What is Trondheim?

According to the comedy troupe Monty Python "a dance which was done every 25 minutes in the town of Trondheim in which the old ladies were struck about the head with large clubs". Has come to refer to any gathering where a defenseless group of people are beaten up by soldiers or police for no particular reason.

Q: Hey dude, are you heading down to the G20 protest?

A: Not a chance, dude. That will be a Trondheim Hammer Dance for sure.

Trondheim - what does it mean?

Trondheim is the third biggest city in Norway and the biggest city in Trøndelag.

People from Trondheim and trøndelag are modest and depressive. The only loud people are people singing dark heavy metal.

Some people say Trondheim is really beautiful, but Bergen is by far more so.

Stupid bimbo woman: Let's go to Trondheim, to see the the really beautiful city and get in touch with the cozy locals!
Honky dude: No, it's just boring there. Let's go to Bergen in stead!

Trondheim - meaning

Trondheim is in the county, Trøndelag (before Sør-Trøndelag). Trondheim is known for leatherjackets (Skinnjakke) and a nice moustache (Bart). There is freezing cold here, but we enjoy it. We have one of the most beautiful churches ever (Nidarosdommen). In Trøndelag we are called Trønder, and we take pride in it. So much that when Nord and Sør-Trøndelag became Trøndelag we even make our own song "Trønder

Trondheim - definition

The third largest city in Norway, located in the middle of the country, in the county of Sør-Trøndelag. It is a beautiful city worth a visit. The people who live in Trondheim and in the rest of Trøndelag are called "trøndere", said to be an optimistic group of people.

Trondheim is among other things famous for all it's history and tourist attractions connected to it (like the national cathedral, The Nidaros Cathedral), much of it connected to the vikings. Back in the middle ages, the city was capital of Norway and called 'Nidaros' before Norway went under Danish rule. The city was founded by Olav Tryggvason in 997.

Trøndelag is also known for it's own "genre" within rock called trønderrock. The genre in itself isn't defined, and it's only definiton is music from groups or artists from Trøndelag. Some notable names within this category is the group DDE, and Åge Aleksandersen. Trondheim made itself even more noticed as a musical city when Norway's national museum for rock music, "Rockheim" (translation: Rockhome), was built there a few years ago. A world-class museum of music and musical instruments, containing a grand collection of musical instruments from all-through the times, called "Ringve Museum" is also located in Trondheim.

Trondheim is located right by a large fjord, Trondheimsfjorden. There are many advantages Trondheim gets from this, like the tourists travelling with the ferry, and a constant supply of fresh fish.

The ferry Hurtigruta goes along the Norwegian coast, stopping by cities such as Bergen and Trondheim. A lot of tourists take it, and the trip comes with a beautiful view of the Norwegian coastline with all it's fjords.
