Someone who is born in the Island of Puerto Rico
They have their own unique customs and are able to speak Spanish fluently. They have American citizenship and are not 'black', with the majority of Puerto Ricans having Taino and Spanish(Spain) ancestry, although some have African ancestry. They do not 'hate on' Dominicans, Cubans, or any other nationality. Nor do Dominicans, Cubans etc. 'hate' on them, contrary to ignorant belief.

I am Puerto Rican, but I must admit that the majority of US Puerto Ricans are cacos who try to mingle with the black folks because as we all know, the blacks are teh coolest people around. Not to mention, they've been fed alot of nonsense about how Puerto Ricans are all half-black, when only about 10% of the Puerto Rican population have any African ancestry.
All my mean-spirited cynicism aside, Puerto Ricans have had a rich history and harbor a very unique culture. From Africans, the Puerto Ricans have obtained the "bomba and plena", a type of music and dance including percussions and maracas. From the Amerindians, Puerto Ricans have kept many names for their municipalities, food, and other objects. From the Spanish they got the Spanish language, the Catholic religion, among other influences. Francisco Ayerra de Santa María was the first native born poet of Puerto Rico, documenting the history of the island. Cayetano Coll y Toste a celebrated historian and journalist of the island has also gained recognition in the development of Puerto Rican literature. Hell, even George Perez, Marvel and DC comic book artist, is a Puerto Rican.
Don't listen to these morons who spew garbage about Puerto Ricans being gangster or uber sexy people. They're the ones that make us look bad. We're better then the stereotypes.

One who is born or decends from Puerto Rico or Puerto Rican lineage. They can range from many ancestries Spanish, native american(Taino) and african being the most common. Puerto Ricans are one of the most diverse Hispanic, Latino cultures. The Modern Puerto Rican is of mainly Spainard, Ameridian (Native American) and African desent or blood. Thats what Puerto Rican are. They speak Spanish can look native american white or Black. They dance to drums and Maracas which is from African and Indian ancestry. They also like to be called Boricua. They are Creole to the bone. Mulatto and Mulatta from the they are born. Mestizo or Mestiza.
Puerto Ricans are a very diverse people.

Puerto Rican - meaning
I happen to be Puerto Rican myself and I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of misconceptions about us. We're not all stupid dirty cacos like some dumbass hick would have you believe and some of us actually have real goals and lead honest lives instead of selling drugs and living off welfare.
And no, not all of us like reggaeton and have bad taste in music, a good number of us listen to a variety of music including rock(in fact there's an increasing number of headbangers and alternative types here in the island).
And we don't ALL hate the USA or Americans. Sure some do, mostly the right wingers from the separatist party hate the US but not all us, in fact, a good number of Puerto Ricans would like nothing more than to make Puerto Rico a state of the US but that's not likely to happen any time soon.

Oh, yeah! It was about damn time someone said the truth! I agree with Lobito Triste on this one folks. The Americans have a huge misconception about Puerto Ricans. They think we are like Fat Joe, or Jlo and those Newyorkricans. Puertoricans are a nice breed of people that are way more different than those ppl you see on the streets saying stuff like YO! WhAD UP DAWG? In order to understand what a puertorican is you must visit the island or meet people that actually came from the island. There's a difference between newyorkricans and Puerto Ricans (newyorkricans is how people from the island call those puerto ricans that were born and raised on the U.S. regardless of where they are) And like Lobito Triste said there are is an increasing number of Headbangers and skaters on the island. (It's rare to find that kind of puertoricans on the U.S. and I happen to be one of them thank you very much.)
Not all of us listen to reggaeton and talk with that urban accent. We can speak both spanish and English properly. I just want to say that we are a race that we have a little bit of white, indian and black blood in our veins and that's what makes us so diverse.
Not all Puerto Ricans are ghetto, that's exactly what gives the puerto ricans such a bad name. :D
