Definder - what does the word mean?

What is Protip?

A 'ProTip' is a female that makes a living off of "professional tips" not associated to sexual services.

A 'ProTip' is usually found at high level nightclubs, sporting venues, concerts, and upscale private parties. Usually in more high profile cities like Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.

The service offered either provides a good time environment for executive level customers that use beautiful women to gain a client or business, social stature, or media attention. It can also mean a middle person for a drug dealer.

If the 'ProTip' is willing to go the extra step and venture into compensation for sexual purposes, than she will no longer be a 'ProTip' and will now be conducting what any escort or stripper would deem a "Tip Drill" made famous by Nelly and his well known explicit video by that name.

We were at Liv and all of a sudden this old guy walks in with 10 protipper's and all eyes were on him.

Did you invite the protip's to the party? We need to land this new client or new connect and the girls have to be around to do that.

Did you see Rick Ross's Protipper's, I swear they were putting in work at the event, they must have moved 100 grams to the athletes and celebrities.

Protip - what is it?

An idiotic synonym for "tip", primarily used my condescending morons who erroneously believe they are dispensing expert adivce. It's a stupid Internet meme that will not die.

Protip: using the word "protip" makes you seem a mentally-defective jackass.

Protip

A tip made by pro's in a certain field/area of reality.

Protips are generally tips designed to help an individual with a task, by describing how to make it easier, ways to cut corners without damaging the final product, and little tricks that have been found to do the task or make it easier/better.

Protips are also confused with/share common idea with life hacks. Don't be confused, life hacks are for life; and Protips are for everything you do in your life.

Found quite commonly on Infographics or 4chan.

Protip: Want to make your essay look longer? Increase the font size from 12 to 12.5 (no more, or its obvious), Move the margins out by 1/8th of an inch, and increase punctuation (full stops and commars are hardest to notice) size to 13 or 14. You have now added half a page to a page extra.

Protip

To offer advice or suggestion to resolve a problem. Often used in context of emphasizing common sense, a very strong opinion, or to belittle/mock a person's point of view.

Likely taken from GamePro magazine, which used the term as early as 1989 in conjunction with screengrabs of video to capture reader's attention to offer advice on completing video games and tying the term into the publication's title.

Protip: Don't raise your voice or joke about guns at the security station in an airport: you're asking for trouble if you do.
