Mode 7 - what is it?
Using affine transformations of a 2d image that are changed on a per line basis (usually using the HBLANK IRQ) to project a 2D image as a flat landscape in a 3d perspective.
The mode 7 effects in the game were astonishing.
What does "Mode 7" mean?
Mode 7 is a hardware graphics mode used by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) for rotating and scaling images. It was mainly used for special effects and to add perspetive to normally 2D maps (such as the world maps in the Final Fantasy series).
