Definder - what does the word mean?

What is Black Sabbath?

A lot of people seem to express ignorant opinions over any subject with the lack of facts and evidences. I'm not gonna do that shit

-Fact: Black Sabbath is a very influential heavy metal band formed in the late '60s by four of its original formers: Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony lommi and Bill Ward, and it had quite a hype over 3 decades.

-Opinion:The band is great don't get me wrong, but theres another definition in my opinion; its when a band formed by a drummer who can't drum, vocalist who doesn't know wtf he is saying. and a guitarist stuck on another planet, and not only that, the band changes its members as often as you change your underwear (20 times btw), and of course half of their mainstream rockers are camping down MTV. I'm not a band hater but quite frankly I'm not a big fan of mainstream.

-Black Sabbath generated a huge and ongrowing fanbase over years, and they made a #1 billboard streak, which is quite impressive.

-You know people are easy to buy, just a few hit albums and you're a "dedicated fan".
i find their style really confusing. and I'm not a big fan of mainstream not to mention heavy metal, because all of these dead child like bands are giving it a bad name.

Black Sabbath - video

Black Sabbath - what is it?

The unholy day of rest between Black Friday and Cyber Monday after faithful materialists sacrifice fellow worshippers underfoot in the name of the Almighty Dollar.

"Hey, do you want to go to the mall with me today?"
"No thanks, I'm celebrating Black Sabbath by opening all the gifts I pried from someone else's cold dead fingers yesterday."
"God bless Merica!"

Black Sabbath - slang

"Black Sabbath sucks.
so does metal."

Hey you conforming punk-wannabe (maybe a better name for you is "Chickenshit Conformist"), Metal Up Your Ass! Black Sabbath and metal ain't for the weak like you. They are for real people (unlike you). Did you listen to some emo when writing that definition??

Black Sabbath is:
Ozzy Osbourne - Vocals
Tony Iommi - Guitar
Geezer Butler - Bass Guitar
Bill Ward - Drums

or if you think the Heaven and Hell lineup is a reformed Sabbath lineup:
Ronnie James Dio - Vocals
Tony Iommi - Guitar
Geezer Butler - Bass Guitar
VInny Appice - Drums

Black Sabbath started in the '60s as Polka Tulk Blues Company, broke up and reformed as Earth, and when they found out there was another band called Earth and that they were going into a new direction, they renamed the band Black Sabbath. Sabbath's goal was to create music to reach new, horror standards (most of metal is like that, but time after time it evolves), basically it wanted to get the audience to feel like as if it was a horror movie when listening to them. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1970, and it was influential in the making of heavy metal. Paranoid was released in the same year and was instantly a classic with songs like War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man. Master of Reality was came out in 1971 and became an highly influential record which included Sweet Leaf, Children of the Grave, and Lord of this World. Sabbath would release a few more albums before Ozzy left the band. Ronnie James Dio (an excellent vocalistand also the man that gave you \m/ in rock) replaced Ozzy and recorded a great album called "Heaven and Hell" in 1979. During the tour supporting the album, Ward leaves the band and Vinny Appice replaced him. In 1980 their tenth album Mob Rules was released. Dio with Appice left the band and Bill Ward rejoined the band with Ian Gillian (frontman of Deep Purple) and the new lineup released Born Again in 1983. The rest is history. Black Sabbath (along with bands such as Judas priest(another heavy metal band) and Led Zeppelin) were influential in the making of the heavy metal genre (and to a lesser extent, grunge).

Black Sabbath

Synonymous with "heavy metal" Sabbath is metal and metal is Sabbath.

If this music wasn't called metal, it would've been appropriate to call it Black Sabbath music.

P.S. WTF? Opeth aren't nu-metal! They are progressive death metal, but I do agree that anyone that hates Black Sabbath should die a slow, painful death.

Black Sabbath

First and still one of the greatest metal bands in the history of music. Originally a blues band from Birmingham, England called the Blues Earth Company or just plane Earth as they went by. Two members were kicked out of the band and they changed their name to Black Sabbath (named after an old horror movie). The original lineup included Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Ozzy Osbourne. After Eight amazing albums Ozzy was being an asshole, so they kicked him out the band. Good ridance too. contrare to what you believe Black sabbath was never "ozzy's band". Ozzy didnt do shit in that band. all he did was sing, he didnt write any lyrics or anything, and his voice wasnt even all that great. The next Sabbath singer to take Ozzy's place was the master of metal singing, Ronnie James Dio. He was there the albums Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. After Dio left several other singers came in such as Ian Gillan, Ray Gillen, Glen Hughes and Tony Martin. Dio then returned for the best Black Sabbath album, Dehumanizer. Dio then left again and Ozzy returned and i believe they are writing new songs now. The have released new demos such as Pscho Man and Selling My Soul.

Black Sabbath = pioneers of metal.
