What is 8:47?
The point of every episode of House where the titular character, during a mundane conversation about everyday life that's not at all medically related to the case at hand, looks off into the distance and solves the diagnosis out of nowhere. Usually it happens at or around the 47 minute mark of the episode, give or take a minute.
The patient almost died 3 times but, while making fun of Cuddy's eye shadow color, House somehow figured out the patient had Lyme Disease after all thanks to an 8:47 Faraway Stare.

8:47 - what is it?
I.e., 13 minutes to 9. Code for the score of the Pitt-West Virginia game (The Backyard Brawl) played on Dec. 1, 2007 in Morgantown, when 28.5-point underdog Pitt defeated WVU, 13-9, ruining the Mountaineers' chance to play for the BCS championship and their first-ever national title. The upset knocked WVU out of the title game, spoiled Christmas for the Mountain State, and was described as "an absolute nightmare" by their teary-eyed homegrown head coach, who promptly ran off scared to the University of Michigan.
And Panther fans loved every second of it.
