What is 2000s?
Shitty decade that will be laughed at much like the 80's. It is very similar to the 80's but less original.
.It is not the "hipster decade" or the decade of indie rock. Most people listen to shitty bling rap, generic pseudo emo/mall punk, stupid brain dead pop or at the end of the decade, ear bleedingly bad fusions of all of those styles a la Brokencyde.
.Everyone tends to become "escapists" which means watch there stupid reality shows, partaaay a lot and watch overrated youtube "celebrities" like Fred while the world crumbles around them.
.Gays are not becoming more accepted, if they were they would be allowed to marry in California and other places.
.Most of the decade is spent with the worst President ever George Bush who America elected TWICE just to show you how stupid America has become in the new decade.
.TV is mostly beyond stupid reality shows and teeny bopper Disney bullshit.
.Nearly every single counterculture movement or non-mainstream music style has been commercialized from punk to emo to indie.
There are some good things about 2000's however.
.In the later half of the decade movies started making a comeback from the shitty sequel and remake period early on with some will be classics like Juno, The Dark Knight and the works of Judd Apatow.
.People become somewhat more environmentally conscious although we still have a ways to go.
.Non-mainstream musical styles like indie rock have become more available via internet radio.
.In the later half of the decade, we elected President Obama who seems at least competent.
.Video games are becoming more diverse with the rise of casual games and indie games.

What does "2000s" mean?
the first and (so far) worst decade of the 21st century. From really bad events like the election of George Bush to 9/11 to Iraq War to bad economy. The decade of overly commercialized junk from music to clothes, where an iPod that costs 20 dollars to make is sold for ten times the price and jeans with holes in them cost more than a week’s worth of minimum wage. The decade that MTV went from a good music video channel to a utter promoter of degenerating shit culture of hop hip and reality TV shows, which lead to stupid white kids dressing up and acting like "gangstas" and trying to sing like bad singers like snoop dog and soulja boy. The decade where Nickelodeon stopped airing classy channels like Kenan and Kel and Rockos Modern Life to airing retarded shows like iCarly, Spongebob, and TruJackson. The decade of Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus and other slut culture Disney promotes. The decade were Tiger Wood's affairs are more important than the War in Afghanistan, especially when the president sent another surge of troops. The decade of very few good films where everything else is a bad remake, adaptation, sequel, parody, or super hero. Politics turned into a total joke. Kids are glued to their computers and PS3s or Xbox 360s while the swings and slides in the park rust day after day. The decade of ugly tight jeans and tight sweaters.
The 2000s suck so much the the 1970s seem like a better decade.

People are not happy of what they got..they are spoiled rotten.
Rip-offs of previous decades in music and fashion. Everything from the 1930s-1990s, but with emphasis on 60s, 70s, and 80s.
The rise of emo and crunk/glam/dirty south rap
Indie freaks and scene kids all over the place...thank you MySpace and Purevolume
Clothes are basically a label on everything and you pay $90 for some jeans with holes in them.
It is cool to be a nerd with the geeky glasses and video games are awesome.
Everything is technology...no wonder why IT is in demand. To make software for 16 year old girls to "play" with their iPhone.
Disney pop and Hannah Montana all over the place.
To sum things up, the 2000s is a decade where everything is based on technology and spending money, causing the economy to go to hell. Then it is based on being hipster and retro because we can't afford or too lazy to think of something original and innovative.
2000s are boring. I think the 2010s will be a lot more original and interesting. The only thing that is "new" with the 2000s is the technology.

Honestly a pretty overhated decade. It is a time where the internet and social media started getting more advanced and mainstream but weren't as prominent as they were during the 2010s decade. It was also a time where many famous events happened such as:
9/11, the War on Terror, the election of Barack Obama (the first black American president), the 2007-8 finanical crisis, the rise of many famous websites such as Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc., Saddam Hussein captured, the Y2K crisis, the release of many famous devices such as the iPod, Kindle, Blaclberry, Android, etc., and much, much more.
Then there's the media. Some are mixed about it but most consider the media to actually be pretty good. This was when many iconic movies, shows and video games came out.
Movies such as The Dark Knight, Shrek, Cast Away, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo, No Country For Old Men, and so on.
Shows such as The Office, The Sopranos, Doctor Who, SpongeBob SquarePants, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Malcolm in the Middle and so on.
Games such as God of War, Gradn Theft Auto: San Andreas, Half-Life 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, Portal and so on.
The ironic thing is that those who grew up in the 2000s complained about them and said it was a terrible decade. Now as of this year they all look back on the 2000s and say they were a much simpler and fun time.
Person 1: Man I miss the 2000s. They were a much more innocent time don't you agree?
Person 2: Uh, if I can remember 10 years ago you told me that you hated growing up in the 2000s.
Person 1: Really? I said that years ago?
Person 2: Yep. Now it seems like you and everyone else who didn't like the decade are now starting to feel all nostalgic about it since you guys constantly complain abiut the 2010s.
Person 1: Huh. Well I guess you should never say it can't get worse. At first I thought last decade was bad, but then the 2010s came and it was a lot, lot worse. Besides, maybe I was too hard on the past decade (hey at least people weren't overly obsessed with the internet so much and they actually talked to each other in person without a phone).

The good ol’ days now. 2000-2009. Some people still lump in the 2000s with the 2010s which is really annoying. No, Party Rock Anthem did not come out in the 2000s!! The early 2010s are not the 2000s. Donald Trump was just some rich TV personality, “fake news” wasn’t in people’s daily vocabulary, a snowflake was a thing that fell from the sky, and Facebook was only a site to connect with friends and nothing more.
